  1. 2. I've recently rewatched the entierity of Castle (until season 7, season 8 doesn't exist). I think I'm gonna watch Grimm next. 3. My historical reenactment uniform, some of the most confortable and classy clothes I've ever worn. 4. Pizza 100% 6. I like to play a lot of different games. My favs are probably tactical/strategy games, X-Com 2, Hearts of Iron, Age of Empires. As a hockey fan I also really like Eastside Hockey Manager. I've also been endoctrinated by War Thunder. 8. Time travel, as a history buff, there is so much I'd like to see. 10. Germany.
  2. 1. We're definitely better than last year. I'm pretty sure we'll make the playoffs, we have a good defense that should help our rookie goalie well. Our offense is kinda stacked too, but has a lot of young players. All in all I think we're pretty good. 2. I think we did really well, we got a good young goalie which was the most important and some good young players to fill the linup. 3. I think they're pretty good. Our GM added some good pieces that should help us this season and in the playoffs. 4. I like trivia, it's sometimes annoying to have to search the forum to find answers, but it's pretty fun. 5. Yeah, possibly Mike Greer worst move until now. We lost Zetterlund for a guy that greer seems like the only one to be high about. 6. I guess it depends where I am, if I'm on the ice in the offensive zone whe the goal is scored I celebrate with the goal scorer, if I'm on the bench or in the d zone I might go to the goalie more.
  3. 3. Yeah, I really like being part of the rebuild, when I finally come up to the VHL I'll be ready to be a big part of this team's defense. 4. This is a long off season for me, been relaxing a lot and training a little to stay in shape. 5. I'm betting on Elf Shoes @ELF_SH0ES to have a big season. 6. I think you have to do both, in training you can improve your consistency, imrpve your basics, but there is some stuff you can only learn facing real opposition in a game. 7. I'm a metalhead. Especially power metal, love me some Sabaton, Gloryhammer, Twilight Force, Alestorm. 8. Green is definitely my favorite colour too. With red and black. 10. Was rainy for a long time, the sun is finally coming out this week.
  4. Germany plays with team asia?
  5. 1. I feel pretty good, we got some veterans and young players coming along. Next season will be better than the last one. 2. CaptainSB is the one that helped me when I first joined the VHL. And then @LucyXpher saw a Sharks fan and jumped on me. 3. Ace has been great so far, I'm confident he'll keep doing a great job. 4. I'm happy with where Kurt's at. Putting up some good points while being reliable defensively and very physical. We'll have some rookie goalies this season probably so I need to help them as much as I can. 5. I did, I was initially rooting for Finland since it was the only team that didn't have any players I didn't like, and Granlund. For the finals I was rooting for Canada though. 6. Walman like to play video games so that could be fun, Macklin is a rink rat so he's never be home, Couture looks like a pretty chill guy, likes to read, Pickles would have his dogs put fur everywhere, Zetterlund and Elkund are attached by the hip so that's a no. Yeah I'd say Couture or Walman. Burnsie would be fun too bet brinsie can't have a roommate, he has ranchmates, he needs a lot of space for his animals.
  6. 2. As I just joined the team I'm not sure what the team needs right now, I'll just hope to be able to do my part when I join move up to the team. 3. I'm kind of a history buff so I like to vacation a little, visit historical places and museums. Otherwise keep training of course to stay in shape. 4. I'd like to lead the Mississauga Hounds to come back to the VHLM playoffs. I'd like to make more hits and keep improving defensively to help my goalies. 6. Nah, I like winter, it's hockey season! 7. I never take any new year resolutions, I know I won't keep them. 9. I'd like to improve my staking and passing, I need to improve my positioning and help to make the first pass out of the zone.
  7. 1. We need to keep playing better defensively, we need to clear the puck out of our zone better and limit the number of shots the opposing teams can get. We need to play hard and make them work for each shot. 2. Zinek is a good friend and we won together. It was kinda hard to see him go but I understand the process and we got a youngster and some draft capital back to build up the future. I wish him good luck with Miami and hope he might get another trophy before giong up to the VHL. 3. We're playing better than at the start of the season, at this point I just hope we can make it into the playoffs, once we're there anything can happen. 4. If they never score you win the game by only scoring once. Trying to outscore your mistakes is a dangerous game that often doesn't really translate to the playoffs, so I'm way more in favor of a full defensive approach. 5. Defense and Checking are the most important stats, you need good positioning to stay on their backs and prevent them from making a good play. 6. I don't, I'm not a big fantasy sports kinda guy.
  8. 1. We need to play better as a team and protect our rookie goalies better. Everyone needs to do their part. 2. Just doing my job. 3. I don't really care about what the media says. We'll just have to prove them wrong. 4. The 2 really go hand in hand, especially in the defensive zone where you have to use your body to keep the opposition player fromgetting the puck. Personnaly I'd say strength though, the stronger you are the harder you hit. 5. I like it. As for an alternate colour maybe some green, like if the hound was hunting in the weeds, with some yellow/orange for morning sun colours. 6. I have my birthday in January, so that's pretty cool. Other than that I like winter so January's fine.
  9. 1. I'm optimistic. I don't know if we can repeat the title, we lost big players like Slava or Deadpanda that joined the VHL, but we'll see what happens. I hope we can make the playoffs and then anything can happen. 2. I'm hoping one of the young goalie can really distinguish himself and give us a chance to win every night. Otherwise I think Zinek will have an amazing season. 3. I'm really honored to have been named captain, I didn't expect it. With Zinek and Smith we'll do everything we can to lead this team as far as it can go and help the new guys find their way into the league. 4. I'm kind of hoping for a bounceback from last season, My first season was really good but last season was kind of a sophomore slump. I did play well in the playoffs and I hope I can continue this tendency for the coming season. My objectives are like 60 points, 200 hits and over 100 shots blocked. 5. Repeating the title is the obvious goal. But I'd say at least reach the playoffs and make the second round. We're a good team and we should aim for good success. 6. Not really, new year resolutions are something I don't really do. Most of the time it only lasts like 2 weeks anyway and most people go back to their old ways.
  10. Thanks dude, very happy to have played alongside you, I wish you good luck for the VHL, you're a great player and I'm sure you'll do very well.
  11. 1. I believe Deadpanda could be a difference maker, he's a great goalie and we have the defense to help him shut them down. 2. I'm not super happy with my play during the regular season, kind or regressed compared to last season, but on the other hand I'm really happy with how I managed to up my play in the post season. Hitting hard, good defense, and putting up some decent points, I'm happy to be able to perform at my best when it matters. 3. Everyone is doing their part, everyone is playing his role effectively and the whole team chemistry is great. That's why we're winning. 4. Not really anymore superstitions than during the regular season. I grow a playoffs beard though, but it's more because it's a cool tradition than a superstition. 5. I believe so. I haven't really studied the thing but looking at how different both conferences were during the regular season, I believe the suppression of the VHLE played a role in that. 6. I'm mostly a stay at home guy, on and off the ice, I like to play video games, watch movies and series, this type of stuff.
  12. 1. We need to keep playing good defense, help our goalies and offense comes for good defense. Kepp doing what we're doing right now and we'll have success. 2. I'm not sure about the details, but my guess would be that the elimination of the VHLE and the redistribution of it's players in the VHLM probably played a role in it. 3. I hope so. Ozzy was a good player for us and he'll be missed. OConnor seems to be a really good player, already 2 goals and 3 points in his fist 2 games with the team. We'll welcome these guys and they'll fit right in. 4. Not really, I admit I'm quite disapointed with my season so far. I'm doing worse both offensively and defensively compared to last season. I'm kinda putting it as just a sophomore slump and hopes next season will be better. At least the team is doing great so there is that. 5. I think next season will be another full season in the VHLM. 6. I'd say between 18-22 °C is really nice. I could deal with lower temperatures, but over 25 becomes way too hot.
  13. 1. Yes I did, and I welcomed the newcomers into the locker room at the same time. It was pretty long though, especially towards the end. 2. Last season we had a good regular season, I hope we can at least match that. I think we can go pretty far this year, I predicted last year that we could go all the way and I was wrong but hey, I feel like we could do better this year. 3. Keep getting better, especially defensively, I don't want to see a - in my stat line at the end of the game. And add lots of hits. 4. I managed to reach 66 points last year, I'd say I'd like to reach 60 points again, reaching a point per game would be really cool but as a defensive defenseman it's not really the main objective. The other objective would be reaching 250 hits, that would be very cool. 5. I don't really know, I think it's a group thing that grows naturally. I try to send a message after a sim, people engage or not, it's depends on everyone. The people that interact the most putting on a good atmosphere should help the more shy people to participate. 6. An interesting colour? I've got colours I like, but never really though of it as interesting. Maybe teal? Like SJ Sharks teal, it's a mix of blue and green so it's kinda interesting. Otherwise I'm a big green guy and my favorite colour is maybe Olive Green.
  14. Hi, thanks for the shoutout! I'll do my best to keep on this good trajectory! And thanks for your daughter for choosing me
  15. 1. I'd say it was a success. Kurt played very well and exceded my expectations and we had a really good regular season. It was also a good first season for our GM who made some good trades. I think we're setup to be good next season. 2. Being a first gen I don't really have an opinion about the VHLE. I like the idea of spending a little more time with the guys your player 'grow up' with in the VHLM, changing team only to go to the VHL. 3. I don't plan to change anything about how I'm gonna develop Kurt, he's slowly but surely becoming a good defenseman that I can be proud of, I just plan on keeping him on the current steady pace. 4. I don't follow the VHL so I don't know. 5. I've never been in an NHL size arena, but in a smaller one I've been on the last ring of seats and the view was nice, being high up gives you and overview of the whole ice and it's kinda cool. Being behind someone very tall is way more annoying, you can't see anything. 6. I'm a metal guy, there are a lot of good choices, Sabaton is epic and gets you ready to fight, but there are some other high energy bands that are super fun like Alestorm, Gloryhammer or even Electric Callboy that are great to pump up the mood.
  16. 1. I'm very happy with Kurt's season. He definitely expected my expectations, especially in points. 2. Great GM, keeps a good mood in the locker room, keep guys engaged, made good moves at the deadline. Nothing bad to say about the guy. 3. I think we're a great 2-way team, we score goals and we can shut down defensively. We need to keep hitting them until they can't score anymore and we'll win. 4. Slava Kovalenko is a strong contender in my opinion, great at both ends of the ice, 1st in points for dmen, 4th in blocked shots. It's probably gonna be one of the flashy offensive players that put up more points, but Slava is my pick. 5. Kurt does the playoff beard, but other than that not really, just keep preparing every day like in the regular season, especially after a successful one like this, up the intensity on the ice to skate faster and hit harder. 6. Europe, especially France and Germany. We've got everything from plains to mountains, hot and cold, historical monuments, beautiful castles, best place in the world.
  17. 1. Our GM acquired some excellent players that should help up a lot. 2. I really think we're a strong contender, we've been doing well all season and just got some strong additions to our roster. 3. I feel like it's Miami, the games were close and our record against them this season is 5-4. 4. I'm not a sports drinks guy, so it's Coke or Water. 5. My model is Scott Stevens, best shut down dman of all time, best hitter of all time. 6. Sure, I might die but at least I did my job.
  18. 1. Recently we've been pretty constistently 1-1 with some 2-0, I don't think we've had an 0-2 sim, so I'd say we're pretty consistent and should continue like this. 2. I'm feeling really good, Kurt is doing is job well, hitting people, having a good +/-, he manages to score points pretty consistently at almost a ppg pace and recently even started scoring some goals so I'm really happy. 3. I'm a first gen player so I don't know if what I'm doing is good or have advice since I'm relatively new too. But I guess have in mind what kind of player you want to make and focus on that instead of trying to make a player good at everything that will end up mediocre at everything. Not sure if it's good advice but it's my advice. 4. They're both really important in being able to protect the puck, expecially in your own zone as a dman. Right now I'm trying to work on them both relatively equally. 5. Sorry for the betrayal but I really like the Marlins logo. Sorry, I'm a Sharks fan and it's the closest one there is. 6. Europe, we've got pizza, pasta, fries, steaks. We also have the best cheeses, wines, beers... We've got pretty much everything, especially if you add regional specialties. American food is a bad copy of european food without taste or way too much fat and additives that aren't evel legal in europe.
  19. +10 Kurt Bachmann
  20. 1. I think we've been good on both sides of the ice, our defense has been solid and helped our rookie goalie, and our offense did a great job at scoring a lot of goals. 2. I admit I didn't expect it for myself, as a defensive dman I'm not really used to have a lot of points, but being almost a point per game is a really pleasant surprise. 3. They're all great guys and do a lot on the ice, they're great leaders. Guys that are great both on and off the ice are so important to create a good team culture and a successful team. 4. They're both important but when you block a shot you're the one at risk of injury. In my opinion hits are better because a good hit eliminate a shooting chance more reliably than hoping to get hit by the puck, it also puts the risk of injury on your opponent instead of yourself. 5. Yes, I do trivia questions every week. 6. It depends, kinda like on the ice I'm more of a stay-at-home guy, but I also like museums or historical sites.
  21. 1. I like our team, I think we can reach the playoffs and once there anything is possible. 2. I'd be really happy if I reached the 20 points. Otherwise it's mostly playing the whole season, throwing hits and blocking shots. 3. I'd say we're more of an offensive team right now. We might need a little more depth defensively. 4. Body Checking, if the other guys are in the hospital, they can't score. 5. 36-24-12, just a random prediction but 50/50 seems good. 6. I'd say streaming, it looks fun, but I never really tried.
  22. 1. I just arrived this week so I don't know the details. I think last week was the trade deadline and some stuff happened. Marlins are doing pretty well recently I think. 2. We've got some new players coming, the team has been pretty good recently, so I'm hopeful we can go all the way! 3. Nicholas Sunderbruch Jr 4. I did not apply, I don't have the confidence to be a GM for the moment. 5. I'm happy where the tam is at, hoping for a good playoffs performance! 6. I just arrived in north america so I'm still adapting but I'm pretty happy with my play overall. I got my first assist and first goal this week so that was fun!
  23. Kurt Bachmann is born on 21st september 2004 in Brühl, a small city south of Cologne in Germany. His family is composed of himself, his brother Michael and their parents, Wilhelm and Hedwig. His father is a hockey fan, followed the NHL and love the history of the game. He also played roller hockey semi-professionally. Wilhelm taught his kids to skate early, first on rollers then on the ice. Kurt and Michael put on skates for the first time around 3 years old. Kurt loved the ice, the cold, the smoothness, the speed. His brother prefered rollers, so they never played together in a club, although they had plenty of fun in the streets. Michael followed his father's steps, currently playing roller hockey semi professionnaly himself. Kurt joined the Junghaie, the Kölner Haie development system, at 5 years old as part of the Junghaie U7 team. He was a good skater for his age and was always taller than average. One of his favourite things about hockey was that you are allowed to bump other kids. He developped entirely in the Kölner Haie system, from U7 to U18, when he reached 18 he was even called up to the big club and played a season in the DEL. Wilhelm loves talking about hockey, about the history, the players, how the game evolved throughout the years. He would tell the stories of the great players to his kids, Gretzky, Lemieux, Yzerman, Sakic... Kurt's favorite players were the big guys, being one himself. He loved hearing his father talk about Larry Robinson, Vlad Konstantinov and his favorite Scott Stevens. Kurt always loved the physicality of the game and these guys were who he wanted to model his game after. Scott Stevens is also the reason he wears the number 4. Kurt ended up growing to 1.88m and is comfortable playing at around 100kg. He became a good, reliable, shutdown defenseman. He doesn't do a lot of flashy moves and his skating is above average without being excellent. But he loves to throw big hits, he'll block shots even in the last seconds of a game and he uses his reach to poke the puck off the opposition player pretty well. He allows the forwards to be more calm and try some more risky stuff because they know he'll be there if something goes wrong. When he's on the ice the opposing players must be aware of that and keep their heads up. In school his favorite classes outside of sports were history and biology. His father's love for teaching him the history of hockey since it's inception started an interest about history in general and he likes to read about historical events. He was a pretty average student, not excellent but not terrible. He earned his Abitur (end of high-school diploma) with a slightly above average grade, then chose to not go to university to pursue hockey. Outside of hockey, on of his favorite pass-times is playing video games. He took that from his mom, whom he liked to sit with and watcher her play. He obviously play hockey games like EA NHL or Eastside Hockey Manager, but he also likes strategy and tactical games, like the X-Com series or Age of Empire. As a good german he also like simulator games, mostly Euro Truck Simulator. After his year with the Haie Kurt decided he neede a new challege. For that he decided to go to north america and join a VHLM team, hoping to improve and be drafted by a VHL team. Keeping with the Haie (Sharks) maritime theme he signed as a UFA for the San Diego Marlins. Although he had a good season in germany, his arrival in north america didn't make a huge noise, due to his low numbers he passed under the radar of a lot of scouts. So far on the ice it's going fine, he had his first assist in his second game and his first goal in his seventh while having a positive +/-, blocking shots and throwing some hits. He is learning to improve his level of play as well as adapting to the north american ice, although his style of play fits this smaller size of ice pretty well. The adaptation to north america is something that he is still working on, for that he can count on the help of his teammates and the Marlins management. Everything is bigger, further, than in europe. He bought his first car, a 2005 Opel Corsa. He currently rents a house around Pacific Beach, he thanked on of his new teammates for giving him the contact for this house. Kurt and his brother are very close, never having been apart before Kurt left for the US. They still talk every day, Kurt semi seriously trying to convice him to join him and play roller hockey in San Diego.
  24. Kurt Bachmann Kurt Bachmann is young defenseman that is an old school defenseman coming straing from Germany. Born in Cologne, Kurt developped through the Kölner Haie system from U7 to U20 and then joining the DEL club for one season. He had 4 goals and 17 assists in 56 games as part of the 3rd pairing of the Kölner Haie at 18 years old. The team managed to make the playoffs but Bachmann didn't score a point and the Haie was eliminated in the first round. Afer that he decided to come play in North America, and kept the maritime theme, by joining the San Diego Marlins. Position: D Shoots: Right Age: 19 Height: 6'2'' (1.88m) Weight: 220 lbs (100kg) Pros: Kurt is a good physical defensive defenseman that has a lot of potential to become one of the best. His style is very old school, he likes to hold the blue line and prevent anyone to come across it with a big hit. He also manages the gap with offensive players pretty well and pokes the puck out of their stick. He is also improving is puck protection skills very well, allowing him to kill time and clear the puck on the penalty kill. His very physical play, throwing lots of big hits are also a great way to disrupt the offensive team's play. He's clearly a player built for playoffs hockey. Cons: His very physical play can also be one of his drawbacks, landing him in the box more often than he would like. He also doesn't show up on the score sheet much, his mindset being that you win by taking less goals than the other team, his wristshot isn't good but he said he wanted to work on his slapshot. His passing is also decent but needs work to efficiently get the puck out of the zone at higher levels. His skating although sufficient for the DEL would currently be too slow for the VHL. He also has a tendency to avoid answering the bell after throwing his big hits. Overall Kurt Bachmann has a very strong base to become a dominant and scary defensive defenseman. He won't score a lot of points, be when he's on the ice the opposition has to keep their heads up and will have a hard time keeping the puck on their sticks. He'll become goalies best friend and give confidence to his offense knowing they have a strong guy to rely on and might allow them to take more risks.
