  2. 1. The new crew and faces have been great. We have some people from long ago, as well as buddies of alumni, as well as some brand new players. Miami LR is always fun and great. 2. Drafted - just hanging around the LR to help out. We got some great players who joined late. But last year was hot. 3. West seems solid for top 3 in each division. Minnesota/STL seem like they may win one series but hard to get to WCF. On the East, yeah, Montreal is hot and Ottawa is putting it together (Cozens clearly didn't like Buffalo). But yeah, I like both WC teams more than Car or NJD. So yeah Ottawa is a good pick. 4. We watch Survivor as a family. I've watched it since season 1. 5. Old Fashioned with Bourbon is my go to. But when I watch hockey/sports or have a burger, give me a good East Coast IPA 6. I'd love to make the HoF but never sure how to make that happen. Maybe not this player since I learned so much, but I'd love a future one to.
  3. Somehow making a 5' 9" goalie shine! @special ed
  4. Battle of S98 VHL Heavyweights - Toronto vs Moscow (Game 409) In a highly anticipated match up of the conference leaders between Moscow Menace @Spartan and Toronto Legion @dstevensonjr, the teams did not disappoint. An early delay of game penalty taken by Toronto netminder, Dalkr Vidarsson @KaleebtheMighty, resulted in a goal by Moscow's first power play unit just 12 seconds into the power play by Jillian Woods @jacobcarson877. But Vidarsson would redeem himself stopping the next eight power plays over the course of the game. Toronto would fight back half way through the 1st with a tip-in by Raimo Tuominen @SlapshotLegion from a shot by Spanish Moon Moth @Renomitsu. And the first period would end 1-1 with shots as 13-12 Moscow. In the second period, the Menace's offense was clicking with 26 shots and 2 goals and a 3-1 lead at the end of 40 with goals from Carson Tripp @Cartripp14 and Pombo @samx. In the third, Toronto would storm back with a power play goal of their own at 8:03 by Dorji Khan @Oddpurplefly. And Toronto would pull their goalie with 1:55 left in the game and with the extra skater just coming on, Raimo Tuominen rips it past Deadpanda @Alex to tie the game. A very exciting overtime had both teams unable to get the puck past the opposing net minders. In the shootout, Obuz Schneider Canet du Bocage @Grapewould beat Dalkr Vidarsson on Moscow's first attempt. With no other skaters scoring, it was all Moscow needed to clinch the battle of heavyweights this season. If they meet in the Continental Cup, we all hope a 7 game series with games this intense. Our 3 Stars of the Game Raimo Tuominen @SlapshotLegion was the 1st star with 2 goals including the critical game-tying goal in the last few minutes of the game. Dalkr Vidarsson @KaleebtheMighty was the 2nd star with a stellar 55 saves and gave Toronto a chance to tie the game late. Maverick Goncalves @leandrofg was the 3rd with assisting the two goals that gave Moscow the lead twice early in the game.
  5. I have entered the 3 Forum Leagues to the Average Draft Pick - now with 14 leagues @qripll. For Skaters, I separated out those that had just 1 or 2 picks, since those picks skew the average (they are at the bottom) Player Name POS Draft % Avg Highest Pick Maverick Goncalves LW 100% 2.93 1 Bollos de Trueno D 100% 4.29 1 Logan Ninefingers RW 100% 5.71 1 Callum Gary Yannick Janser D 100% 6.43 1 Guntis Gavilrovs D 100% 7.00 2 Lucy Leitner D 100% 7.50 1 Antonia Bucatini C 100% 8.21 3 YaBoi Oven D 100% 10.93 3 Spanish Moon Moth C 100% 11.00 1 Grimgor Ironhide LW 100% 12.71 3 George Richmond C 93% 13.00 2 Obuz Schneider Canet du Bocage C 100% 13.00 1 Axle Gunner C 93% 13.69 4 Jillian Woods D 93% 14.69 4 Andrew Skilton D 100% 16.21 8 Felicia Hardy D 86% 16.42 7 Riley Martin RW 86% 16.58 4 Lazlo Holmes D 79% 18.45 9 Toby Kadachi LW 86% 19.33 2 Pierre Marc Bouchard C 71% 21.10 11 Adi Dassler LW 64% 21.11 6 Thor Reingaard RW 86% 21.92 10 Joshua Schwarzer LW 50% 22.57 12 Kimi Raikkonen LW 21% 22.67 15 Gianfranco Del Rocco LW 50% 22.71 10 Mina D 100% 22.71 13 Forum Content LW 50% 23.00 14 Erik Thorvaldsson D 79% 23.18 13 Jarmo Ruutu C 50% 24.57 18 Severus Targaryen C 43% 25.00 12 Conference Prince-de-Galles D 43% 25.00 16 Wayne Gretzky C 21% 26.00 22 Jebediah Big Ol Doinks in Amish LW 29% 27.75 22 DB IV D 21% 28.33 24 Alagsantere Groenvold D 29% 28.50 21 Konstyantyn Shevchenko RW 21% 28.67 26 Phillip Rave C 21% 29.00 27 Raimo Tuominen C 43% 29.33 15 Pan Daffleck D 29% 30.25 26 Eric White Jr LW 29% 30.75 25 Boris Bone-Breaker D 21% 33.33 30 The Phantom of the VHL C 14% 15.50 7 Tommy Sleeves D 14% 24.50 22 Matteo Stefano RW 14% 27.00 25 Benjamin Abenduct D 14% 31.00 28 Ahsoka Tano D 14% 31.50 28 Pombo LW 14% 32.50 29 Gul Dukat D 14% 33.50 33 Stefan Nikolaev RW 14% 35.00 35 River Harrington D 14% 35.50 35 Phil Sakic LW 7% 19.00 19 Carson Tripp D 7% 23.00 23 Dorji Khan LW 7% 23.00 23 Bubbles LaFleur D 7% 23.00 23 Miner vHLer LW 7% 31.00 31 Alexandros Mograine C 7% 33.00 33 Narnia Shaw D 7% 33.00 33 Simons Worst Nightmare D 7% 33.00 33 Wally Lose LW 7% 34.00 34 Johnny Tsunami C 7% 34.00 34 Maxim Anisimov RW 7% 35.00 35 Name Drafted % Avg Pick Jorgen Lovstrom 71.43% 22.2 Spider Panda 57.14% 25.1 Soju 57.14% 26.7 Aleksanteri Kaskiniemi-Kekkonen 35.71% 27.5 Deadpanda 71.43% 27.7 WWWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWWWWWWWW 71.43% 27.9 Dalkr Vidarsson 35.71% 28.3 Red Panda 28.57% 31.2 Ryan Artyomov 21.43% 32.7 Giorgiy Costanzov 14.29% 33.0 Pipo Popa 7.14% 11.0
  6. Thanks for the review @Vice
  7. 1. I think we're getting some momentum yesterday. @Tetricide figuring out the right strategies and combos, we'll get there into the playoffs. 2. I like the community suggestions because can't always think you can come up with the best ideas. 3. I don't know how many S100, I wonder how many will come back but not necessarily stick around. Or are they going to reconnect with "oh yeah that was fun but I got burned out" 4. They are doing amazing! They all deserve the win. 5. Fastest speed - everything else seems contrived. 6. I think we will keep fighting London for that #5 spot but I believe we'll prevail
  8. You're doing awesome for my VHFL team! Keep it up
  9. @dasboot Sorry @ROOKIE745 - best color fit I could find and clearly it made sense with your toughness as well.
  10. 1. We just need to figure out the magic to tell Simon. I think we have the players across the board. @Tetricide has built an up and coming team - I have faith that he'll figure it out. Last few days, we had some big titans - I mean Toronto has been a beast and we've played them a few times. We'll get there - team is gelling. 2. Theme week - for sure! 3. I think it's ridiculous BUT I think in real life, the rules are enforced because that's how people put food on the table/buy their lambos. This is supposed to be fun. I do think this is enough of a possibility that the league should figure out rules (though then people will want to bend them). Reading the discussion I've seen, it seems people tried to help the player continue to be engaged, and even then, it was still NOT enough. 4. No facial hair - just a baby assassin. But the hair is long and wavy 5. We try to do a weekly celebration for birthdays - not just on that day. 6. My office walls are "sage" - it's a nice soothing color. Just a hint of green, nature but not strong.
  11. 1. My boys like Corned Beef and my wife makes it on St Patricks Day. Not much else is tradition. 2. I think we've played a bunch of the top teams and are still getting used to each other. @Tetricide still trying to figure out how to turn the knobs on this team, as long as he's not head shotting people. 3. I think we try the line changes / strategies. I think we're still early in the rebuild and wouldn't want to trade away good assets. 4. I stayed for all the 2023-2024 Sharks games that i went to. That was pretty painful but I stayed until the final horn. Historically bad team. 5. @Mutti is doing great. We're just taking too many penalties and we can't keep up a perfect penalty kill. Like above, we're still working it out. 6. I wouldn't pick myself as I think @Acydburn Brigitta Sandstrom is doing great. 17 points and a +11. Rock Solid. I'm excited to have someone to try to meet their success - will make for a better team!
  12. Was there more than the 11 discord groups? I can add forum groups if you send to me
  13. Interestingly, Group 5 (which is my group) did not select Lovstrom. And after this quote, I checked and actually I had incorrectly marked one of the Pandas and only one group did not draft Deadpanda (group 10) - Deadpanda should be 90% drafted.
  14. @Grape - I think it's more memorable and notable for you to be most confusing pick
  15. Actually I looked back and most people got that - which is interesting given that the forum post had him wrong.
  16. I think next season, I'll keep the drafted by one team separate since average is weird in that case.
  17. The S98 VHFL Draft has been completed. Official rules here. Thanks to @leandrofg for managing the whole VHFL draft process, as well as being the #1 player by ADP (Average Draft Pick), Maverick Goncalves. 11 Groups Drafted and I was curious to see what an ADP analysis of our favorite virtual hockey players would look like, so I kept track across all the drafting groups on who was selected when. ADP is an interesting stat which gives the collective feeling about where players are relative to others. It can be used to help you tier players in a fantasy football/hockey/baseball draft as well as see where the value is. Each group had 6 teams each picking with 3 forwards, 2 defensemen, and one goalie. No bench, no trading. Just one pick of players at the beginning of season. A couple of interesting observations as I collected this data. Most incorrectly selected player due to retirement: Harry Callahan @dstevensonjr Most confusing player for this VHFL draft: Obuz Schneider Canet du Bocage @Grape due to change of position Most correctly selected player that caused confusion: Severus Targaryen @Banackock due to retirement timing but still playing in S98 and a valid pick It looks like the Top 20 players were pretty consistently drafted (with the exception of 4 players missing one just draft and a 5th player being only drafted by one team). On the goalie side, given the number of teams and depth of good goalies, they were usually drafted in the 5th to 6th round. If you're really a data nerd, here's the S97 VHFL scoring for Skaters and here's the S97 VHFL scoring for Goalies. This table should cover every skater drafted, even if only one team selected them as Mr. Irrelevant 9% means just one team selected them, since there are 11 groups. 18. 1. I played with @FiZi at Miami - solid player and plays the game the right way. Good pickup! 2. I'm happy to help support the team to play winning hockey. I look at my +/- as much as my points. I want to play in all situations and do whatever it takes to win. Prague seems poised to take a deep run in a season or two. Looking forward to that! 3. This upcoming season, I've started slow but I'm definitely glancing at the rookie race. I'm slow and steady and while I like being in the ROY consideration, I just want to win games. 4. Glancing at the colors and logos and mascot - I think it would be the Philadelpha Reapers - you get reaped and then you become a Phantom! colors and the text have some very SMALL tie ins 5. Oh man, I am excited to be in the VHL and can see how my game plays with the best 6. The Surge in Carolina is cool. Something about Phantoms flying away would be cool. Like we all go to the center of the ice and then skate fast away in all directions (like we're scattering). As long as there are no TV camera cables on the ice that would be cool.
  19. Luc Moreau didn't know if he'd make it to the VHL. There were other French players that he looked up to that made it to the VHL, Obuz Schneider Canet du Bocage @Grape and Conference Prince-de-Galles @UnkemptCL4PTP. They not only made it but thrived. Hoping to follow in their footsteps, he originally thought he'd have to get through the VHLe to make it to the big league. Those teams were close enough to home that he felt comfortable pursuing that goal. But then the VHLe disbanded and he was picked by Prague in the S96 draft. He knew there was the possibility of making the big leagues. So with his first full VHLM season for Luc, there were a lot of starts and stops as he learned what it meant to be a professional hockey player. In the following off-season, he was close to being able to be called up to Prague before S97. The GM @Tetricide said "stay and grow and crush it." So in S97, Luc loved his time on a stacked Miami team built by @Ricer13 to win the Founders Cup but Luc always had one eye on Prague. The disappointment of a first round VHLM playoff stung but Luc knew he was going to get called up to the VHL shortly thereafter and take the next step in his growth. For Prague in S97, they lost more games than they won and got fortunate to actually make the playoffs but you could see the rebuild in action. GM @Tetricide made some bold moves in the off-season leading to S98 with some aggressive trades. A lot of people saw the value in the Lucy Leitner @LucyXpher trade and the other Matteo Stefano @mmrs617 trade. Luc felt he was joining the team at the right time. Lucy's average draft pick in VHFL is very high and Matteo is coming into his prime seasons. This is now the time for Luc to grow with Prague as they re-establish themselves. There are stacked teams in the VHL but Luc sees the opportunity to continue to grow and learn what it's like to play with the best (virtual) players in the world. Players with twice the TPE will skate circles around him but he'll be taking notes and learning what it takes. In an interview, Luc said he wants to make as much of a difference as possible but knows this is the first serious year for Prague to build into contention. Last year's playoff circumstances was a mirage and he wants it to be clear that Prague will be ready to compete for the cup in 1-2 seasons. The window is starting to be cracked and Luc wants to be part of the solution, helping Prague return to the days where as recently as S90 when the Prague Phantoms swept the Los Angeles Stars and carried the Continental Cup around the rink. Luc is not here for the individual accolades, the Cup is all that matters.
