  1. 1. I think Martinez would be an amazing football player with his (planned) speed and offensive skills. He'd just have to learn how to use his feet to kick a ball instead of a stick to use a puck! 2. Uhh... the one in Canada, I think ? (I don't know any, sorry!) 3. Depends! It shouldn't be some neon stuff that distracts the opponents, but I think it'd be a good idea ! Ask 3: 1. What's your favorite trivia question? 2. Who's your favorite VHL player compared to your favorite NHL player? 3. Would your player be good in a maze?
  2. It was a typical Sunday for Martinez, who was pushing through his usual week doing the same old stuff he would've done before. He had a lot of stuff to do tonight, but there wasn't a lot of time to do it right now, and that's what scared him. Agustin usually followed a loose “schedule” that he'd set himself, one that he'd made sure to follow to a tee so he wouldn't be able to think about the day passing by. It's what his mother taught him when he once said he was "bored of repeating the same things.” Lately, his schedule was usually divided like this: Mornings, from 6:00 to 9:00, he would make himself breakfast, then do some studying. Usually, he studied hockey maneuvers, however sometimes he did end up studying college-level subjects; math and science especially. From 9:00 until noon, he’d find himself with a bit of free time, playing about an hour or two on the computer he built, before he went outside to do some training. He usually trained into the afternoon, though when he didn’t train, he would write or read something in the library near him. Once he was done in the library, he made his way home to cook dinner, a big dinner to compensate for skipping lunch. He wasn’t all for making a scene on his way home, but visits to the outside world often ended in at least one person recognizing him. He felt awkward about that part. As he followed his schedule and walked home, he passed by someone familiar; a girl he’d seen wandering around in the library, often browsing the romance or fantasy sections for “good books” as she once said when he asked. She was a mystery to him, but a pretty one. He had a strange infatuation for those who stood out from the crowd, and her appearance matched that; she had a softer face with round glasses with much sharper, intimidating eyes with her hair typically in a messy, but still pretty-looking bun or a high ponytail. She didn’t talk much to anyone, and the people she usually talked to were usually hanging around the arena he and Mexico City would play in. He wondered if that could be a good starting point to talk to her? As he passed by her, he figured he shouldn’t say anything. His appearance was still pretty messy and he had quite the annoyed expression on his face thanks to the people who had been bothering him about an hour prior. He passed the library on his way home every single time, but this time, he decided to take a detour, passing instead by the nearby food trucks and other stores. Sometimes he’d do that to change up the pace, other times to get something off of his mind. What he wanted to get off his mind was the girl; he wanted to talk to her, but didn’t know how to approach her properly. He usually knew how to approach women, but since it’s been about 3 months since getting on hormones, he felt a little more awkward. The changes were mostly placebo, he always felt a little weirder approaching girls in the past, but it was amplified a bit after the start of testosterone.
  3. When you look at the designs for the logos in the VHL, how do you think that translates into jerseys? I only ask that because there's a few jersey types to consider! How do the colors translate onto the jerseys themselves? This would make more sense for a press conference PT, but that's besides the point! Now, to pad the word count! I think the jerseys would look something like this: The primary color would fill the majority of the highlights and the majority of the jersey, while the secondary color makes up the rest of the highlights. Finally, the tertiary color would pop out elements to make the jerseys look nice! I have never seen a sports jersey to be fair, so I don't know how accurate this would be, but I think that's how they work anyways? Home colors are usually white or, in general, light, while the away colors are darker! I don't know why that is, but I guess it's the contrast thing! Anyways bye bye!
  4. I'm evip ,,,, lol
  5. Hi, I'd like to join !
  6. Game Recap Game 541 - HC Davos Dynamo vs Seattle Bears The Seattle Bears lost in a close match against Dynamo, who scored 5 total goals against the Bears' 4. The first period was a hectic one for the Bears as they'd go on to give up 3 goals while scoring one themselves. It took 11 shots against the Bears' 9, but Dynamo found the lead. They quickly found the score to be more even in the second period however, as the Bears would go on to match the 3 goals, while the Dynamo simply found one hitting the back of the net. Sitting at a 4-4 score, the Dynamo and Bears fought it out for another 2 periods before Johnny Tsunami's goal in the SO period brought the Dynamo to the win. With two goals, Gianfranco Del Rocco deserves recognition as the best player, and Felicia Hardy's goal in Period 1 should be looked at as it kicked off the game. Game 557: Prague Phantoms vs Moscow Menace With a blazing start, Jarmo Ruutu pushed Moscow into the game with the first of two goals in the first period. While Prague attempted to fight back against Moscow's offense, the overwhelming number of shots Moscow affected Prague like an avalanche. They were never able to get off more than 20 shots against the menacing Menace. Prague's 2 goals came in first and third periods, though Moscow's Jarmo Ruutu scored two goals, as well as Obuz Schneider Canet du Bocage and Pombo. Overall, the 40 shots taken by Moscow may have helped out with the scoring total, having 4 goals in 40 shots against 2 goals in 18 shots, and Jarmo Ruuta deserves to be one of the 3 stars in this match for matching Prague's total goals.
  7. For my next article, I want to make something that's related to exploring the wilderness of Mexico, since Mexico City is in Mexico and there's not much wilderness in D.C., all things considered. With that in mind, however, you have to consider the geography. Explaining a place isn't easy, and it's especially hard if you don't know how to describe everything. With that in mind, there's a lot of ways to explain the geography of say, Mexico City (as someone who's been there a grand total of one time in my life). This is going nowhere, but here's what I'd do: If I haven't been there, look it up. For example, Mexico City's surrounded by mountains and volcanoes (of course, I'm getting this from one source, being Britannica) and is around 2400 meters average. The information on this page, as well as other places to explore tours of Mexico City, give you a look into the land and it helps us in our explanation of the tours, hikes, etc. we decide to take our characters on.
  8. 1. I feel like, in order, you'd need a Defense, Goalie, an then Forward. Of course, some players are much better at simply scoring, but if you think about it, they say defense is the best offense against the best scorers in the league! 2. I haven't really participated in things so far, I've just been idling in the background while I go through my courses! 3. Fries! Mostly because I can make them at home as easily and they taste pretty good! Ask 3: 1. What was a shocking moment in the VHL playoffs? 2. If your favorite sport's season just started, what was your favorite moment so far? If they're going into the playoffs or it just ended, what is your favorite moment from the playoffs? 3. How likely is it that your player eats fast food over a healthy diet?
  9. I've made quite a few graphics in my sim league stays and there's one thing that I usually think of first, and that's references! Of course, make it look original, but if you don't have a few references and there are references to making things, you look at them! You have your own style, yes, but that style could completely fail if you don't know what you're doing! Take for example a player graphic! Who do you look for, and what does your player look like? Graphics should be players who match your player's build (physically) or style (facially for example!) You can look up players as a start to these references. For example, Martinez's player page says 6'7" and 201 lbs, but realistically, I'd want him to be more like 5'8" and more lean looking. So what do I look for? First, the build; 5'8" hockey players. There should be a way to sort by height and weight anyways! Some people make articles about shorter players too, so that's helpful! If the person doesn't match the build, then try to find someone else who does! That's it, thank you! Stay creative and have a good day!
  10. 1. Going off of generalized sporty stuff, I'd say one of my more favorite things about playoffs in general is the atmosphere and hearing people cheering for their favorite teams! 2. I'd say none of the things I make are going to be my favorites, ever! They're all equally nice to write out or make, whether some be higher quality than others or not! 3. "Listen, it's one point with more than enough time to come back into the fold. We focus on defense hard, but don't overdo it. Leave the offense to the forwards who'll be looking to score. Everyone has a role to play, after all. Let's go!" Ask 3: 1. What's your most/least favorite discussion when it comes to sports? 2. Who's your favorite fictional or real player? 3. Is there a way for a VHL player to become a real NHL player? And I don't mean with the names, but with the stats!
  11. (Why Below) The next time class starts, I'm going to learn about HTML and CSS. Since I know somewhat a general idea of how both work, I figured it'd be fun to make a concept webpage for the Mexico City Kings! Why not, right ?
  12. I don't know what's really happening that I can write about, but Mexico City was 2nd in the standings, that's really nice. I'm pretty sure I'm helping out in the playoffs, which is kind of just a compromise for me right now, since I might not be able to really participate as much in locker room shit. It's nice to see us in the playoffs though. Something about it just makes me happy, I guess? It's like, I'm accomplishing something with people and I'm helping make people's dreams come true, but more in the sim engine sense and none of the people are real, but their maker's desires are. Anyways to pad out this word count since that’s all I really wanted to say, doesn’t it feel lonely sometimes on Earth? If not, then is it because you’ve got animals in your life who you can care about? I’ve been thinking about that a bit lately, I don’t know why, really.
  13. 1. I'm not really shocked by anyone making it or not making it. I don't follow the VHL too tightly, just who's good and who isn't for research purposes mostly 2. I don't know, I guess I'd expect at least 2 upsets, but I'm not sure which seeds would be upset. That doesn't include any 4th vs 5th matchups, if there are any of those, or anything like that. Those teams are more or less even in power in my opinion. 3. I'm still in the VHLM, but I'm pretty sure the Dragons missed the playoffs this year? A3: 1. Pick between the two extremes. Do you think the world and your actions are predetermined, or do you believe your actions are of your own volition? 2. If your player was to get caught for a crime, what crime would that be? 3. How hard would it be for you to live in an alternate universe? It doesn't matter what alternate universe, but you will have two copies of yourself.
  14. Yeah so I'm gonna keep this short but still long enough to make some point. Of course I haven't been the most active this season thanks to outside circumstances and whatnot, but I have been trying my best. Anyways, let's begin; First of all, let's look at the only time he's been in the playoffs. S97-S98, with 6 games, he's averaged less than 1 point a game with 5 points getting 2 goals and 3 assists on 25 shots in both seasons. That's pretty good from what I know, at least it's decent enough for what he is; an offensive player. He's someone who's supposed to remain offensive, and from what people have told me, defensive stats tend to help offensive stats the best, so you usually want to be all around. For right now, he's more offensive, but it's fine. His offensive stats kind of shine, I mean compared to other players around the league like Logan Ninefingers during their 2 season VHLM stay. Ninefingers did have a more successful playoff run, but Martinez still has the main course of the VHL; the regular season. I'll be comparing myself to Ninefingers again, and then to someone else since it's not fair to just compare to one person. Probably someone in my class of S98 Martinez started in S96 and was drafted by Mexico City 15th in S97. That was fine, he didn't really show anything, so he had work to do. Clearly D.C. saw something, and that's kind of pushing me forward. Anyways, stats: Currently, Martinez's VHLM stats look like this: S96-S98, he's gotten 120 points on 450 shots. 69 (nice) of those points being assists while the rest of the 51 are regular goals. He's gotten 25 goals in both of his seasons in Mexico, and 256 hits on people as well. Comparing this to Ninefingers' only full season (combined with other stats), who had 158 points on 604 shots with 64 of those points being goals and the remaining 88 points going towards asssists, and Martinez is progressing great, I'd say. Of course, nothing like Ninefingers whatsoever, but it's still something to think about. Similarly, Catia Gonclaves played one full season in the VHLM but had 94 games played. In those 94 games, they achieved 425 shots and got 87 points. Of those, 40 were goals and the remaining 47 were counted as assists. While not exactly the same build as Martinez, they're what most people would look at as someone who'd be a good defensive comparison, I guess. They've got more of a defensive switch to them, compared to Martinez. Hits wasn't as important, but Gonclaves had 139 hits on other players while Ninefingers had 303 hits on players. I assume hits means physical. If not, then let me know. Now, what do I take away from all of this (mainly to pad out the word count)? Well, Martinez is growing. Not at a superstar level, really, but that's all on me. Instead, he's growing to be a decent enough player offensively and defensively that, I think when he retires, I won't have any regrets.
  15. We love cryosleep and magic to keep our players alive for 700 years, seeing the rise and fall of the world's great powers and all that shit
  16. Q: 1. I think if Martinez were a wrestler for some reason, he'd be named Transister; Trans for, well, obvious transmasc reasons, and resister for resisting his former self and becoming someone new, I guess 2. I don't really know, I don't have one I giess ;p; 3. So far I've only been a part of two, and the longest has been the Kings, so the Kings. A: 1. What are your rules for your characters when you write them? 2. If you could make your character commit a crime, how serious of a crime would you make them commit and how long would it be before they were found out? 3. How different are you from your character? Do you like the same things? Would you be best friends irl, would you hate each others' guts?
  17. If someone lived their life according to someone else's rules in reality, that would be kind of wrong and some might consider that to be abuse in some instances, but if these people are those of our own creation, is it the same thing? I'd like to think that all of my creations live in semi-harmony in a similar timeline to one another; the player in the SBA, VHL, and SSL are in the same timeline despite the different week schedules, that being 6, 8, and 10 respectively. They're more or less the same age, with Zoe being the most active person in the SSL, myself in the SBA timeline being the oldest, and Martinez being the youngest. I try to convey that through stories and ADITLs, but I'm not sure if it really gets through to be honest. But what do you think? Do you think the players we make in sim worls have their own rules, or would they live according to ours?
  18. How much time would it take for someone to find a good footing in the league? That's something that's kinda been on my mind for the past while, I don't know why. Something about it is just weird. We all need to find out footing eventually, but sometimes we slip and fall. Still, it's something insane how fast some people can lose interest in things. It's been that way for a while here, and I'm not sure how to keep up the interest. Scenarios help a lot, but sometimes I run out of scenarios and get frustrated at myself, I guess? Finding a rhythm is something else entirely, since rhythm is about flow and the flow of things can come naturally to some people, but not as easily to others. human being are weird creatures like that, where we’re all different yet all the same in a certain person’s viewpoint
  19. As the person who appears to have the single largest drop in production appeared, nothing really changed whatsoever. What's different this time, however, is at least I'm actually able to write right now. Seeing the theme week for this week, I kind of started to wonder what the hell was happening. What the hell does it mean to be a "tough" guy? Then I was told by the D.C. Dragons' GM that it's actually something to do with fights won and hits. I'm not entirely sure how to rank "tough" people since anyone can hit and fights can easily be won against a weaker opponent (take, for example, Mike Tyson beating up a toddler because he wants to). I'll look at the stats of hits, fights won, and total fights to see who could potentially survive a non-fatal car crash instead since that seems like a good measurement for "tough." Let's assume the car crash happens around the passenger side, where our player is, and we want the ideal person to come out as unscathed as possible. That means major injuries such as a broken neck, arm, or leg would render them weaker. I'll also categorize them by all-time and present, and each separate stat, so I can do multiple lists for myself to think about. How I'll be rating these players is going to be something like this: - How many fights have they been in? - How long was their career? - Less importantly, what's their highest upgraded rating? Each list will have a total of five people, starting with: First: All-Time Hits, only While the stats page in the VHL forum might not be the best place to look since that only shows you total hits, I figured that'd be a good place to start anyways. Someone who's able to throw a lot of punches is bound to get more strength, yes, but also a lot of mental fortitude. If we're taking into account mentality, and how most people can survive a lot if they're not thinking about. 5. Brennan McQueen (S36-S42) Playing for the shortest total time out of anyone on this list, Brennan McQueen's hit total was around 2889 in the regular season and 3228 if you take into account the playoffs. Since all ratings here seem to show as 40, we can also assume they'd get scratches, bruises, plus a lot of pain to top that all off, and some amount either trauma or general fear from the accident, but not a lot. 4. Zach Parechkin (S46-S53) I believe this player has the (tied) second shortest total time played out of anyone on this list, who has the least hits in the regular season with 2762, and a combined total of 3073 if you include playoff hits. Compared to McQueen, though, he's at least got 90s in something. I'm not sure if it's just an age thing though, since that could happen. Regardless, Parechkin's 85 experience and combined their build helps quite a bit with taking on the force of someone hitting into them, but they'd still come out with bruises and a reduced level of pain, but still quite a lot. Quick reflexes would probably safe them from being hurt too badly though. 99 Checking, 99 Skating, 90 Strength, 94 Puck Handling, 90 Passing, 99 Scoring, 92 Defense 3. Druss Deathwalker (S77-S84) Future Sleepy, since this has been on pause for the last few days: Scratch everything I said before about going into depth. This is the list. I started working on this around the 3rd, but then some friends came over. And we actually got into a car crash. Don't worry, I'm fine, so are the others. The worst of the injuries was seatbelt related.
  20. Q; 1. I think one of the biggest things I'd take out of the human design would be the overthinking aspect. Of course, it's amazing to be able to think, but the thing with that is I don't want to overthink something too hard and end up pushing people away thanks to trauma or thanks to anxiety 2. I don't know, not too hard. I wasn't here for the VHLE. 3 . I'd change around the Phantoms' colors. I don't like the purple as much for some reason, it looks weird I guess? I don't know what I'd change it to though, tbh A; 1. If you were to create a fantasy league, what sport would it be based off of? 2. Knowing what's good and isn't is hard for beginners, how would you go about explaining what stats are better and worse for beginners like me? 3. If you were to make a new part of the league (team(s), division(s), conference(s)), what would you make that part of the league, and what do you think the name would be?
  21. From what I remember from the VHL Discord, the TPE you earn when you're in the VHL from development is like the SBA, 1 less. With that in mind, then, you earn 13 TPE instead of 14, and that's still a lot of TPE. A season is, what, 10 weeks? Just about 2.5 months? I've done a lot of calculations for the SBA, and they're pretty much the same for the VHL, but I just wanted to share, I guess. Correct me if I'm ever wrong. 1 TPE per 1 Trivia Answer, max of 2 1 TPE per 3 press conference questions answered, max of 2 2 TPE for any VHL.com media 6 TPE for any media 2 TPE Uncapped for development weekly, or 1 in the VHL You get a total of 14/13 TPE per week, which would then be multiplied by 10 (excluding external factors). Say an average career goes to 6 VHL* seasons or so, which I think would be 2 VHLM seasons, that'd be about 20 weeks of 14 TPE and 60 weeks of 13 TPE, for (280+780) 1060 TPE That's, again, without things like VHL Fantasy and predictions that'll earn you an unguaranteed amount per season. It's no wonder some people got so high up on the TPE leaderboard To be fair, some players have also played for longer, like the top TPE** player played 10 VHL seasons compared to the top TPA*** player, who played 7 seasons total in the VHL, using the portal of course * We don't count the VHLM, since it's the development league and I sure as hell hope that no one's counting that towards your career progress ** There's a difference between top TPE and top TPA players. TPE is just how much they earned when they retired. Unless the VHL portal is wrong, Nico Pierce, who retired in S89, was the top TPE earning player with 2206 TPE. *** TPA is what's applied, and the top TPA player is 1st Gen Leonard Triller, who retired in Season 94.
  22. With the boom of hockey in his life, Martinez has always been looking to get into more hockey related sports magazines and the like. With the appearances of many of the people who he's looked up to in the past, he hoped that one day, he'll be as good as them. Of course, for right now, however, he has a fight on his hands with his next game, but he'd definitely think about this later. -- Later, that same night... -- "God, I'm beat." Martinez said as he slammed himself on his bed, taking out his phone. He's always been pretty good at drawing, and minus the part time jobs he'd work, a lot of his income came from commissions. Now that he can't take advantage of people like he used to thanks to him being in a more stable economy, he figured it'd be about time to pick up drawing again. Who knew, maybe he'd be a local animator some day. Maybe not "local," since he didn't have many plans to return home, but he'd at least hopefully be a local legend. He stared at his phone, contemplating. If he opened the app he normally used, he knew he'd be fine. That's the issue though, complacency. He didn't want to get too used to only one medium. He'd done some traditional art in the past, though mostly of stylized flowers and the ocean rather than characters from well known media, and those received a lot of likes from his peers. That's it, he'd get his inspiration flowing using paper and pencil; a perfect plan. He got off his bed and walked to his "study room," which was just the living room that was styled more to a study room than anything. Sure, the room was connected to the kitchen, but it's not like people came over or anything. The TV he had set up was collecting dust, too. With a sheet and a mechanical pencil, he thought of what to draw. He'd take some inspiration digitally, but what type of drawing did he want to make? He was passionate about hockey, and he was also passionate about a select few action manga. Despite sitting there for what felt like hours, he still couldn't come up with a style he wanted to use. Most of his drawing styles were completely different from something like the style used to make JJK. His style was softer, leaning a lot more into heavy emotional scenes rather than fight scenes. Maybe he’d try switching it up. Lighting was his biggest weakness. He could do shadows, but they’d always be messy. They’d have a sense of cohesion- to the untrained eye, at least. Despite this, however, he pressed on. Filling in the general statue of the skeleton, getting a rough idea of the lighting, making the style look just right… And he didn’t do it properly, but he tried. He wasn’t too sure how to style a person who was hitting a hockey puck since there were rarely any clear moments that weren’t just full stadium shots that he could find, but he at least wanted to make something. He took a picture, got up, and immediately walked back to his bed. He was still so tired…
  23. 1. If you mean in the VHL, the New York Americans seems kinda on the nose. I guess it's more of a D.C. thing, and that's a stretch even. 2. I like the European rinks better 3. Iced Coffee, 110% Ask 3: 1. What's your favorite team design, throughout VHL history of course? 2. What's the difference between your first player and your current player, if you've got multiple players? 3. Soda or water?
  24. S98 - The Houston Bulls vs the Philadelphia Reapers The Bulls took on the Reapers in what looked to be a close game at first, Philadelphia players Jackson Jeannot and Joseph Poole advancing the Reapers to a successful offensive. With 4 scored goals in 18 shots against Houston's 2 goals in 20 shots, it's safe to say that the Bulls' offense definitely needed some work in this game in order to win more games through an offensive means. It could also be that the Reapers' defense was incredible, and the goalie for the Reapers was doing an outstanding job compared to typical efficiency. The first and last goals scored were Jack Jack on the Bulls and ALTO RED on the Reapers, starting the game off for the Bulls yet giving the Reapers a win.
  25. Is it weird that I want to make an article based on a scenario that sounds straight out of some sort of anime or generally any sort of animated thing? It'd be fun to read about someone's horrible luck and whatnot, have it being about hockey I guess, and then suddenly, it was just a dream. That'd be fun to write, at least, and I don't know how fun it'd be to read, but I hope it'd also be fun to read. Creating silly shit is something that I’m always wanting to do just for the hell of it since it’s usually related to a player and whatnot. Maybe it’s not the best idea for the integrity of articles or something like that, but it’d be fun for audience retention and that shit. Give them something to actually relate to and it’d be fun to write up. Maybe that’s also just my former fanfic writer talking, but imagine your player in some sort of bizarre anime scenario getting his head chopped clean off and used like a volleyball before it's reattached
