Good day. Today I'm going to talk about something that is close to my heart. Just like most things that are worth talking about, the topic of this article has those who are all for it, those who are against it, and then those who are not willing to take any sides.

 

My point of view is supportive - I'm all for it. I think the individuals who are taking the opposite side on this argument are wrong. Their view is blurred by the negative press. They don't see the whole picture as a result. However, I'm willing to accept the fact that we are living in the year 2021. Times are changing, and perhaps I should consider my stand on this topic. That is one of the main reasons why I'm writing this article. I want to analyze the pros and cons and see whether my thinking is flawed somehow. Perhaps, as a result, someone else is also willing to entertain the idea of ''updating'' their view on the matter?

 

Before I delve in, I want to quickly say few things. First of all, I had limited time to research the pros and cons. I would still like to say that I know a thing or two about the topic through my own experiences.  What is the value of those experiences is something that you as a reader must decide. The second point I'm going to mention is the fact that the biggest motivator for me as a writer is TPE. I'm writing this article to earn TPE. That might not be news to most of the VHL Media Spot readers, but I thought it's worth mentioning as I want to be open and as transparent as possible.

 

As a summary of the above, I have a clear personal bias towards the topic. I'm not afraid to admit it. On top of that, the amount of time I dedicated to research and using my personal experiences and ideas as a source are both valid reasons to ignore everything I'm going to tell you. Despite all the points I just mentioned, I encourage you to dedicate some of your free time to researching and adding to the debate by writing an article yourself! I can only speak for myself here, but there are never too many quality articles in the VHL Media Spot section.

 

 

Now to the topic of this article. I have been in VHL for years now. During my time here, I have noticed that those who do things differently are sometimes questioned. The decision to guard and maintain the legacy of an attribute is silently attacked. In many eyes the attribute that I'm talking about is hockey, it separates the game of hockey from other sports. That is what I'm here to talk about today, checking and the ongoing attack against checking as an attribute.

 

Unfortunately, I'm running out of time, but I would like to send a message to those who are against checking and standing on the opposite side. You can take our careers, but you will never take our freedom!
