The start of the end of an era

It's nearly the end of an era in Toronto, Hextall has been the face of the franchise for at least the last three seasons, some would even say since he got there, he is synonymous with the team, you can not think of the Legion without think of Hextall. He has dedicated himself to the franchise and that carries a lot of weight in a league were one can only play eight seasons. For Hextall this is his curtain call, no more tries after this, no more wins or seasons after this one. Hextall has virtually been around since general manger Peace took over in pre-season 70, Hextall always knew what was going on and what the plans were, he's the one that has stuck around for what has felt like three rebuilds or three retools, after the goalie position is one of the most important. He was key piece that never left and always gave Peace confidence in net.

 

Jaxx Hextall really has been through a lot with the team, from when Killinger and Magnum were there, to Merrick and Strauss, and now guys like Sens, Kaberle, and Sunderbruch. There's much more faces that have come and gone but Hextall is the one face that never left and that fans could always tie themselves to. The team this year is playing for the veteran netminder, the fans have chanted "for Hextall!!" since the first game of the season, you can find banners and shirts of it everywhere, the team is really rallying around Jaxx. While the team may not look champion caliber, Hextall believes in the depth of the team and that if everyone continues to grow that they will have a shot at it, or at the very least make a very deep run, something Hextall has only had once in his previous six season in the VHL. Here's hoping for one last great season from the Canadian stud!!
