Logan Laich Embarks New Role in Cologne (Extra 1/2)

Recommended Posts

To say Logan Laich has had a stellar career on the statsheet thus far in two seasons would be an out right lie. While showing solid leadership skills in the locker room, an ability to adapt with the play having played defense on the penalty kill, and a huge physical presence on the ice...Laichs offensive numbers have left a lot to be desired. He has 32 points in 144 games. 32 points in 2 seasons of game activity. But Logan Laich insists that the media, the fans, and the entire VHL pay way too much attention to what he has done, and not enough attention of what he is capable of doing.

The young forward is only in his third season. A season which see's him jump forward from a second scoring depth role to a more prominent one. Laich is pegged to be one of the feature players on an up and coming Cologne Express roster after being traded from the Americans in a giant deal that saw 2 first round picks as well as a second head over to the Americans. The value that the Americans got on Laich was hardly the value of a 32 point player. But Americans GM Christopher Miller has always been a believer in Logan Laich. He see's the potential future of the young winger, and knows that a breakout season could be in very short order. Cologne GM Alexander Schneider also see's this potential in Laich. It's why he was willing to pay such a high price for him. Laich went one step further and signed the rest of his career with the Express, showing the team that he is committed to make it work in Cologne, and try to make the hefty price paid for him pay off.

While Season 39 may not be a make or break season, Logan has stated to friends, family members and the press that he considers it his coming out party. He has stated that he wants to show the Cologne fans and teammates that he is going to be a force to be reckoned with on the Express. Most importantly Logan has welcomed the challenge of the new role he faces in Cologne. A role that could see Logan transform from career second line depth forward with good checking, to a top level power forward in the VHL.
