Theme week: What if the original plan for hextall panned out?

Look, like three weeks in a row I am posting on deadline day but hey, suppose that's how the cookie crumbles. (Not really just me being lazy I suppose) Anyway though, it is theme week and I have to admit I struggled with this one for a bit, tons of possibilities for a theme like this one and I wasn't quite sure where to start, I could have done a what if I was traded in prior seasons media spot since there has been two or three times in Hextall's career that that was on the table for me to consider. (Excluding my draft season) It could have also been a what if we further in S74 playoffs, if we made it to the finals? Now my GM has already done that so I'd say that one is off the table. The it dawned on me, what if the original plan worked out when I came here? What if Hextall had join the Dragons like I originally hoped?

 

No there was never a point where I had the mindset of "I will only play for the Dragons or recreate", I was always open to the chance of being drafted by another team and that's what happen, now I was BPA'd which you could say kind of left a bad taste in my mouth and is the reason I really look forward to making my next player, in hoping that I don't have that happen to me again but that's a conversation for another time. Now for those of you who don't know the story I was traded to the Legion shortly after in a pretty big trade that included a lot of players and draft picks. Now Enorama was also trying to trade for me as well but his trade I guess just didn't match what Peace was offering? I'm not sure but basically the way I see this is one of two things could have happened, either I'm not BPA'd, every other team passes on me and I drop to 14th overall and am picked by the Dragons, or Enorama ends up with the trade for me, we'll go with the later.

 

Now lucky for me the Dragons ended up with a really good goaltender despite not getting me in Stone Wolski, now why do I say I'm lucky? Well it's because I imagine Hextall's numbers would have been pretty similar to Wolski's. I think it's safe to say our TPA has usually been around the same, or at the very least mine hasn't been so much lower that it'd cause a very different outcome. The biggest difference is that Hextall was a S70 draftee while Wolski is a S71 draftee, so it just means Hexy would be playing his final season while Wolski can still play one more. I imagine that Hexy would stay in the M for S70 still, wouldn't want to miss out on that great S70 Storm team! But for S71 I could still see Jaxx being stuck in a backup roll before being the starter. It's funny looking at the numbers, Hextall only has five more wins than Wolski, one more shutout and they both have a career save percentage of .918. It's hard not to think that Hextall would end his career just somewhere over 200 wins if he was with the Dragons, maybe his numbers are better, maybe not.

 

Honestly this was fun to thin about, Eno and his team is the reason I'm here, saw that team logo and was like "Where do I sign up!?!?" I still hope to play with the team at some point with a future player of mine but leaving it up to fate, or rather the draft is what I'll do. Yes there will always be some teams I might to play with more for their logo or GM or maybe even because a certain player is there but I like to see what kind of story will form when I'm drafted, I don't want it to be because I was stubborn and refused to play for the team because of outside reasons. Anyway, suppose that's it, I have one last thing to share though!

 

 

Ever since the draft and being traded I always wondered what Hextall would look like in a Dragon's jersey, this theme week was the perfect chance to ask for that, and in a way is kind of bittersweet, as it is looking back at the start of Hextall's career, the start of my first player.
