ROOKIE745 604
The horned sounded as time ran out, Hextall could only stand at his net and watch as the team across from him celebrated, the Seattle Bears were moving on. It was easily the most painful lost he had ever had, there was no "next season" for him, no more "Well we'll see how things go in the off season". His Legion teammates skated over to him to give him a giant group hug and to thank him for his play over the last seven seasons. It stuck out to him more than ever during the hugs and handshakes with his teammates that none of his season 71 teammates were around, it made think about all the great players he got to play with over the last seven seasons, he wouldn't have to much time to ponder this though as the teams had to line up for the respectful handshakes with the team that beat them. After the formalities Hextall along with the rest of team headed headed to their locker room. Hextall denied media availability, he just wasn't in the mood for it. It would be a few months later during locker clean out that he would take make himself open to comment. "My time here in Toronto has been fantastic, I have no regrets staying here for the whole of my VHL career, the friendships I made and moments we had are unforgettable and I wouldn't change it for anything. Yes... every player will tell you that they want to win a cup and that's no different for me, I wanted to do it in Toronto and sadly that wasn't in the cards. I wish we went out on a higher note than in the first round. One thing I know for sure is I'll miss playing for the Legion."
