Czech defenseman Jan Hlozek has got into hot water with the Latvian law enforcement authorities after the Riga Reign blueliner was detained over a disturbance at his city centre apartment over the weekend.

Police were called to Hlozek's apartment in the early hours of Sunday morning after a party got out of hand. Upon their arrival, officers observed severe damage to the communal areas of the apartment building, as windows were smashed and a door was ripped off its hinges.

Neighbors told CZHockey that Hlozek has cut a sullen figure over the past week, as the Reign dropped five straight games to push the Latvian side further out of the playoff race in the VHL.

Hlozek personally couldn't be reached for comment, but his agent, Jaroslav Bednar, said that the Czech blueliner would fight any charges issued by the Lativan authorities.

"My client will not be commenting on any of the allegations levied against him. At this stage we are working to repair the damage and make sure that Honza [Jan] is safe and sound," Bednar said.

After a promising start to the season, Hlozek's form, like that of his team, has tailed off over recent games. Hlozek has nine points through 24 games, with a -13 rating.
