In what probably did not come as a surprise to many, the Wild Card series between the New York Americans and the DC Dragons turned out to be a very offensive one.

Stone Wolski finished the round with a respectable 91.3% in saves, but his goals against average (GAA) was a whopping 5.00. With a 5.00 GAA, nobody would think that goaltender would have a good save percentage or be winning the series, but alas, Wolski and the Dragons did just that.

The Americans came out of the gates with a big 7-3 victory over the Dragons, outshooting them 64-44. 7 goals against for Wolski isn't all that horrible considering they had 64 shots against. The next game Wolski saved 42 of 46, which was a lot better. That Game 2 was a more even affair between the two clubs. In Game 3, the Dragons broke a rule so they had to play their backup, Michael Olson. Lucky for them, they outshot New York 56-28, and Olson played well, saving 27 of those 28 shots.

With a 2-1 series lead in this best of 5 Wildcard Round, the Dragons had a chance to eliminate the Americans. Wolski put on a show as the Dragons were outshot 62-33, but the Dragons won 6-4. Wolski saved 58 of 62, and DC moved on to face Chicago.
