AP source: Browns interview Vikings assistant GM for opening

Today we sit down with the new AGM of the Wranglers to discuss his new role and how things have been going so far.

R: Good Afternoon Greg, first of all welcome back to the TJHL!

GE: Thank You, It's great to be back. I didn't see myself being in this role after I retired as a goalie here.

R: How has life been as an AGM for you so far?

GE: It has been hectic. There is lots of new things to learn that you might not even know about as a player. You have to make sure the team morale is good and consistently communicate with them, you have to strategize ways to beat your opponents and also discuss how to improve your team. It's not as simple as just going on the ice and playing the game

R: Are you liking it so far though? Or would you rather be back on the ice?

GE: I am loving it so far, I think at my age and where my career is now I prefer to be in the GM suite. I will never forget my days on the ice but this is a whole different challenge.

R: What are you first thoughts on the team after your first few weeks with the team?

GE: I think this team is being built as a contender for the next few years. Our GM's vision for the team is great and I fully support his plan. The players seem to have positive views on the plan as well and team morale seems to be high. With all the bad recent history in Calgary, I think things are starting to turn around and this will be a team that players will want to be a part of. The locker room and winning team that we are building will have players on notice and I think that is good for us going forwards in terms of retaining players and UFA signings.

R: How do you think your son has been doing? Is it Awkward being on the same team as him?

GE: He has struggled a bit this year compared to last and I am not sure if it's just a slight regression or if he is nervous now that I am his AGM. To be honest though I have no worries, I know his work ethic and that he will do what it takes to bounce back and be better next season. Right now in the playoffs, we just want him to focus on each game day by day and not worry about his stat lines.

R: You won your first 2 games in the series vs Seattle, do you think you got this in the bag?

GE: No, definitely not. I know Seattle very well from my goalie days in Vancouver. I told our team that we have to play the next 2 games like were down 2-0. If we lose focus Seattle will come back and bite us in the ass. We have to stay fully focused and keep continuing to play great defense and making the most of our offensive opportunities.

R: Our final question for today is, what does the future hold for Greg Eagles?

GE: Right now I am focused on helping GM Ricer make this team a team that everyone wants to play for. I am not looking past that. Sometime in the far future, maybe I would like to try my hand at being a GM but as of right now, I have a lot to learn and am excited for my future as an AGM

Honestly this is one of the best visual looking interviews I've personally read! I love the different colors for the different people talking! it makes it so much easier to read at least for me. I think this is very well written overall and is a very good and interesting read. 10/10
