Omi Aberg this year was a part of the Ottawa Lynx organization, but his future with the team is unclear, because of the former GM moving to VHL and Aberg being eligible for the VHLM draft, but he is keeping himself busy this year with World Juniors Championships. He was picked to be a part of Team World and he is hoping to bump up his stock just a little bit before the VHL and VHLM drafts. Aberg said that WJC helps him to take his mind off the upcoming drafts and he can concentrate on something else that is not draft-related. He already met his teammates and even played 2 scrimmage matches before the tournament.

Faced with first genuine test of 2021 world juniors, Canada falls short - Sportsnet.ca

Aberg is one of the more younger players but in Omi's case, maybe, newer because in age Aberg is not even a little young. There was some fallout on VHL media, that 50-year-old man can participate in the junior tournament but Aberg hasn't played more than the number of seasons than other junior players, that's why he is a junior too and can be in the tournament. Aberg said, that he hopes to play however the coach wants him to be because he would love to add a World Juniors Championship on his biography. When Aberg was asked to describe his own team World, he said - they are a bunch of hard-working players that won't back down from any challenges. There is a mix of more experienced players and also some young and gun guys that can score a quick goal and get back on defense as nothing has happened. Aberg also said that General Manager has done an amazing job in constructing this team because he understands that he had a lot of players to choose from, but he chose the perfect balance of offensive and defensive players. Team World is expected to be playing physical and offensive hockey that every team will be afraid to face. They want to be as annoying to each opponent as they can be. Team World has already played 2 pretournament games and it has had mixed results. They have gone 1-1, but the one really interesting thing that we have seen in Team World matches is aggressiveness and a lot of penalty minutes and fights. Team World doesn't back down even in friendly games that don't mean anything.

Who knows what will happen in the tournament, but one thing is for sure that Team World will probably have the most penalty minutes in the whole tournament. Maybe Team World is not gonna be the most likable team, but they will have some damn fun playing the villains in the tournament, but sometimes people live to love more the villains than the good guys, that's why Aberg doesn't worry about it at the start - he thinks they will earn every fan's heart and every fan of the tournament will be cheering for the Team World to make a big upset and win it all! It is coming home and this time it will be TEAM WORLD! GO GO GO!
