Happy Birthday

 

Hi there VHL and happy birthday, congratulations turning 14 you are still an awkward teenager. I think that phase of life perfectly sums up the VHL. It thinks it knows everything about what it is and how it can be. But we all know truly it still has much to learn and will change more times than we can count. So let us give the VHL a lesson on how it can improve. Because is there a better present you can receive than criticism, I think not. So, buckle up VHL I am about to ruin your day.

 

I kind of don’t really have that much to critique to be honest, it just was a fun little opener to write. Though I do want to speak about the world cup and how I think that could be improved.

 

Firstly, let us think of the real world cup, you have qualifiers, you have a team of players that share a nationality and that is it. You usually know roughly where you line up in selection if you are a player and if you would get selected. So here is some ways that could make it more line up our fake world cup to what happens in real life.

 

Selecting your citizenships. A lot of world cups will have discussions over such things like, oh did you know that Bob Rielly has an American mother and a Canadian father, yeah he has dual citizenship. That means that Bob is eligible to be picked for both America and Canada in the world cup. Though because he lives in Canada they have first dibs of picking him. I suggest that we make it so you can pick a duel citizenship, so all those people that create American players have more chance of being picked and the smaller countries have more chance of picking a team. Also, I think that the teams for the WJC and WC should probably line up and that way you always play for the same country.

 

Next, I think there should be obvious rankings for each nation in the world cup. I know with America and Canada you can sort by country and see if you are the best goaler. But if you are in team world it is a lot harder to find rankings. This way you could see some battling for a world cup spot and you might see more articles saying, “I am a better pick than ___ even though they have more TPE than me in the upcoming world cup because of ___”

 

Lastly, there should be a coach picked earlier on and there might be some interviews or a discord set up earlier so it isn’t just everyone join this one discussion for three days of sims than leave once it is over. If I am the coach of America I invite everyone who I think could be in the Squad (2 teams worth of people) than whittle it down over time possibly.

 

So, yes my ideas aren’t perfect. No, they won’t solve anything. But, they might cause conversation to be had and that is all I can ask for.

I like the idea of being able to buy a dual-citizenship in the Player Store.
