Gaikoku-hito 2,155
Half waypoint of the season and once again we will sit down with Robert Bouchard the Prague Phantom forward. Good Afternoon Robert, How would you judge Prague season so far? “It has been a very up and down affair so far with winning stretches followed by losing stretches. As from a personal standpoint it has been very much the same being hot at times collecting two or more points per game to then go two or three games without points. It can be frustrating when the team isn’t performing and I am not performing either.” The team went on a short winning stretch the last week that moved you back into the play-off hunt. What changed? “Simple put the General Manager finally broke apart myself and Dom. We are both players that can be hot and cold when we play together; I think this is due to the similar nature of your styles so it is a situation where we simple don’t fit well together on the same line. Great friends off the ice and in the locker room but just can’t seem to work on the ice.” Trade deadline is just around the corner are you expecting the team to make any moves? “Honestly I think our management team have had a very clear idea of what we need to improve but simple there isn’t a lot available at the moment or the asking price seems to be very high. So at the end of the day we cannot look to management to bring in the magic piece for us but rather we all need to look in the mirror and ask yourselves; Can you play better? If you can then simple playing better will help the team." Any expectations for the remainder of the season? “At the end of the day I have learned since coming to the VHL not to have any expectation other then making the play-offs. If we make the play-offs and we get hot at the right time we can make a run as I feel we are as good as anyone in the league on any given night. Time will tell but we should make a decent run again this season." Any Personal expectations? “Well, I touched on that slightly as I want to be more consistent and if I am more consistent then the team should be more consistent. This means we finish the season strong and become a true threat for the Continental Cup." Once again Thank you for your time Robert and hopefully we chat again as Prague heads into the play-offs at the end of the season. Inconsistent play is nothing new to the Prague forward so hopefully things turn around as the Phantom push for another run at the play-offs. Once again we will return in the future in the series we call #AsktheBouch.
