A Couple of Mexico's Recent Games

(a little less relevant as I started writing this on Wednesday)

More of the same kind of article from me this time around, but when you're about to go on vacation until the end of the week, sometimes you have to smash out an article.

The 44-17-5 Mexico City Kings have been great this season. They've been on winning streaks, had some ups and downs, but never once let a couple of losses deter them. They currently hold the VHLM's 2nd best winning streak right now! That's a whole....2 WINS IN A ROW! The San Diego Marlins have won 4 in a row, and that's pretty damn good for a 29-33-4 team. Here's a look at the City Kings' last games:

:mck:Mexico City Kings vs. Ottawa Lynx:ott:

This game was surprisingly very close, and no team dominated play, despite Ottawa being much further down the standings. In the 1st Period, Mexico scored a couple of quick goals. The first was from Watson Stonebridge with his 22nd at the 2:05 mark of the period. Just a minute later at 3:12, Deke Rike scored his 24th, giving the Kings an early 2-0 lead. A bit of a scare for Ottawa, having Mexico score 2 quick ones to start the game. The door was shut the rest of the way for both goalies in the 1st. In the 2nd Period, Lucien Aubert took a penalty which sent Mexico to the PP. Flynn Remy scored on the PP to make it 3-0 Mexico City. The teams went back and forth in this period, but late at the 19:50 mark, Austin Towbaker scored and brought the game to 3-1. In the 3rd Period, Mexico outshot Ottawa 7-2, but both goalies held their own and the game ended 3-1 for Mexico City. Bastian Greiss saved 19 of 20 shots, and Rhys Trenton was the 1st Star with 2 assists.

:veg:Las Vegas Aces vs. Mexico City Kings:mck:

This match-up was between a 2nd and 3rd place team in their conference. Vegas is almost 20 points lower, but nonetheless, only 1 seed lower. In the 1st Period, Vegas' Zdeno Chara scored his 34th at the 2:46 mark on the PP, after Ben Aky went to the box. Under a minute later at 3:43, Ben Aky redeemed himself, scoring his 29th goal to tie the game 1-1. 4 minutes later, Sunrise van de Schubbekuteveen scored his 47th to give Mexico City a 2-1 lead heading into the 2nd. In the 2nd Period, things began to unravel. At 8:10 and 8:20, Mexico City scored 2 quick goals by Deke Rike and Arthur Kimura to give themselves a big lead at 4-1. Las Vegas' Caleb Gaudette scored a goal later in the period to bring the game to 4-2, but then Mexico City fired back once again. Arthur Kimura scored a goal 8 seconds after Gaudette's, then Watson Stonebridge scored a late dagger on the PP to bring this game to 6-2 with a commanding lead for the Kings. Lucky for Vegas fans, the 3rd Period was uneventful and the game ended at that score of 6-2. Las Vegas Aces' Anime Protagonist saved 34 of 40 shots for a 0.850% save percentage. Mexico's Bastian Greiss saved 19 of 21 for a 0.905% in saves. Mexico's Arthur Kimura gave him 1st Star of the Game.
