Jersey Number's on Discord

Good Evening VHLers. I'm new to the league having signed up less then 24 hours ago since this post was uploaded. My name is Masu Chan and I wish to make an impact on this league immediately. Change the culture and pitch some fun ideas while I'm here, and get some extra T.P.E. while doing so doesn't hurt, right?

 

Speaking of which, the first idea I had, which I think would be fun and would also prevent the same number being retired multiple times from the same teams The New York Americans are a prime example of this, sorry to call out the Organization, but looking through the retired jersey numbers recently I've noticed that the same numbers show up retired a couple of times. 

 

I'm sure there are other teams with this issue, which is why I want to propose that players can change their profile pictures on discord to their jersey numbers or have their Discord nicknames on the VHL's discord servers, claiming their character name and their current number.

 

Obviously there are going to be some players who refuse to do that and might not understand how to do it. It wouldn't be a mandatory thing as forcing this on players may make them disinterested in the VHL altogether as some players may be very committed to a number.

 

If it is mandatory though that is for the leagues GM's to decide. Much like how the NHL is run, they could enforce the rule that two players can't share the same number and this would also be a way for the GM's to manage the numbers that are used, making sure no one is currently using a number that was previously retired.

 

If you like the idea of having a Jersey number but don't fully understand how to change your nickname, I will quickly lead whoever is reading this through these steps on how to change your nickname on Discord for the VHL, without it affecting your Discord Username. Mind you I am a phone user so if you use a computer or other device these steps may not assist you.

 

All you have to do on a phone is select the server that you want to change your nickname on, In this case it'd be the Victory Hockey League server and the Junior Showcase Tournament servers. Once you click the server you should see the full name of the server at the top of the tab and beside it should be three dots. Click the three dot symbol and it should open a window with the options to change your Nickname. Hopefully that helps you and you get to claim the jersey number you wish.

Great to see you looking at ways to improve the league already! This was actually recently brought up a lot during the suggestion drive as well, so your points are definitely very valid.
