Gooningitup 1,290
Komarovs never quit attitude growing on fans Komarov has quietly become a name in the VHLM he currently sits 2nd in the league in hitting, that along with his fourty-five shots blocked make him a very strong defensive defender. The biggest shock is for a defender who prides himself on his play in his own zones hes showing a huge step forward in the offensive side of the game. This years draft is full of great defenders and Komarov will likely get lost in the shuffle seeing his name called somewhere in the second round of the VHL draft, however that is not lost on Oslo's fans who seem to be grabbing the Russians jerseys off the shelf as quick as they get in stock. Fans love Komarov not because he is the flashiest player on the ice but because he does not quit each an every shift. He wins fans over with a big hit, a key shot block, or a big fight and despite being a fan favorite Komarov has not let it get to his head. "I go out there each and every night to win and to do my best not just for the team but for the fans supporting us each an every night, I don't do it for the glory or the fame but because i love the sport of hockey". Its shown so far but it seems to still be lost on scouts, it seems the league prefers those who play a flashier game rather than a simple one. Komarov does not let that get to him at all though he feels that the teams who miss out on him will regret it and the team who lands him will find they have landed a gem of a player who wants to go down as one of the best defensive defenders the VHL has ever seen. Well he stated his first priority is to become a great defensive defender, but he has seen a great improvement in his ability to distribute the puck a skill he says will help his defensive game as he won't have to play in his zone as much if he can get it out quicker. The key to being a better player is making sure you can play both sides of the puck a 200 foot game, i may never become a great offensive defender but if i can even contribute a bit to the offense by getting it to the forwards quicker that helps the team a ton. The Storm have struggled defensively though the blame does not entirely fall on just Komarov but it is certainly a key point he brings up to his players in the locker room. He emphasizes playing a 200 foot game and everyone playing a good defense will help the already deadly attack become even more dangerous. If Lebron can improve his net-minding and the team plays a 200 foot game the Storm could come out of the European conference and maybe even push for the cup. Where the team sits at the trade deadline could decide what direction the team goes heading into the playoffs. Komarov knows he wants to compete and try to win a cup with Oslo before he joins the big leagues. A task that seems out of reach at this point in time but could change with a few shrewd moves made by their GM. Senior Admin Will 4,662 Posted August 6, 2014 Senior Admin Share Posted August 6, 2014 Content: 3/3 Komarov has really come out of nowhere and impressed people across the board almost immediately. I actually have a feeling Komarov will be going in the first round of the VHL draft. I think he has really been making a name for himself and GM's will be impressed by that. Grammar: 2/2 Looks good! Appearance: 1/1 Good! Overall: 6/6 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/10791-claimedwork-horse-growing-on-fans/#findComment-104149 Share on other sites
