Jala 922 Posted August 6, 2014 Share Posted August 6, 2014 Sportsnet Connected got a chance to talk with Sachimo Zoidberg, a first year prospect of the Yukon Rush in the VHLM. Being claimed off waivers as a undrafted free agent, Zoidberg has made quite the impact in his first two games in the league. Prior to his first game we got a quick word in with him during the pre-game skate. "Yeah, I'm pretty nervous right now, this is a farm team for the show, so I want to go out there and make a big splash and show I belong here and prove I'd be a good choice for a VHL franchise to draft. I want to have a solid season with the Rush and hopefully raise my draft stock so I can get drafted in the higher rounds. Being drafted at all would be a dream come true, but I didn't get to this point by coasting by. I worked hard to reach the VHLM and I'm going to keep that going until I earn my spot in the VHL. Thanks for checking in, I have to go get warmed up now." We don't know what he did during that warm-up but it worked wonders. Starting off on the second line on a rebuilding Rush team, Zoidberg went out and scored a hat-trick while adding two assists in his first career VHLM game. A veritable shooting gallery the final score against the Gladiators was 9-5 for the Rush. Sachimo Zoidberg while the anthems were being sung. We caught up with him after the game to get his reaction on scoring a hat-trick in his first ever game. "Wooooooooooooo! Sorry. (laughing) I'm just on a real high right now. Scoring 5 points in my first game, let alone a hat-trick was not something I expected coming into tonight. I think it's a great start for me, and I hope this shows I'm ready to play in this league. I don't expect to have games like this every night, but to put up points consistently at this level would do wonders to show I would be a smart pick in the draft. Not only did I put up points, I tried to play a two-way game and I ended up adding 5 hits and getting in the way of 3 shots. I want to play a full 200 foot game and I feel like I showed I have that ability tonight." We caught up with Yukon GM Robert Gow after the game who had this to say about Zoidberg. "I was thrilled when I saw Zoidberg was available on waivers. We have scouted him extensively since he was in high school, and we believe he will develop one of the best shots in the game. Honestly, Zoidberg reminds me of Nathon Mackinnon with his blend of scoring and skating ability. Zoidberg will be playing on our first line this year, and I expect him to develop into a force by the end of the season." After being informed of what his GM had to say about him, Zoidberg was dumbfounded. "Wow. I didn't know that they had that much faith in me, or that they had been following my career as long as they had. I mean, everyone hopes to make it to the VHL one day, but to know that they were that excited and dedicated to helping me reach my potential makes me want to work even harder and show that their investment in me and my abilities is worth the time and effort they've put in to acquiring me for this fine organization." Zoidberg stood true to his word as he went out against Storm in his second career game, tallying two helpers on way to a 7-5 rout. Unfortunately Zoidberg had to rush off with his teammates to the team bus to make their way to their next game, but don't worry viewers, we'll be sure to track this rising star all the way along his path to the VHL. My first team was also Yukon and I know you will have a lot of fun there. Eaglesfan is a great GM, he will have a lot of fun with you but he will also teach you a lot.
