A Player with No Experience?

His signing was met with concern from get-go. Cadmal Ixazaluoh (pronounced Ee-chaza-loo-oh) of Guatemala was a unique addition to the roster of the Reapers on September 20th, specifically because he has no hockey playing experience, and his only athletic resume is in the game of pitz, an ancient Mayan game where players attempt to bounce a ball through a stone hoop on a high wall. Players can tackle, jump over, and run up the wall in order to accomplish this, making Cadmael quite agile for someone his size - a whopping 6'5", 240lbs. We managed to sit down with the new player for some questions:

  • Interviewer: Good afternoon, Cadmael. How are you liking Philadelphia so far?
  • Ixazaluoh: It's very good! I very much like the food of the city. There is also a lot of people, and that is not something I am quite used to though.
  • Interviewer: It seems that many of those people welcome you to the city and more importantly to the team that they love! Though, and not to sound rude, some are concerned that you're not ready for a league like the VHLM due to your lack of hockey experience. What do you say to them?
  • Ixazaluoh: Yes! I learn to play Hockey and will show city that I am prepared to play with other player.
  • Interviewer: That's right, you have your first game upcoming in S80 playing for the Reapers after being picked up on waivers. Do you think you'll be a good addition to their current D core?
  • Ixazaluoh: Coach said disk may not reach goal. Therefore, disk will not reach goal.

It was at this point that large-framed Ixazaluoh stood up and walked out from the interview. He left with the microphone still attached and the remaining audio seemed to be inaudible grunts and what seemed to be like more running. It goes without saying that this new addition to Philadelphia will most certainly be an interesting one - whether it's a good one or not, remains to be seen.
