For all of the press surrounding the VHL you would think a retiring future hall of famer would get more spotlights on them, but as it turns out, that might not be what you get. Jeffrey Pines, formally of the Los Angeles Stars and now in the frozen tundra of Vancouver, has been flying under the radar following the trade, despite playing one of the best offensive seasons in the season. The veteran defender has 50 points through 37 games, split almost exactly between LA and Vancouver. This puts him on pace for his first 100 point season, and with the increased pace playing for the Wolves, he could see himself contend with former teammate Alex Letang in the single season record books.

This begs the question - where is the press attention? Every morning Vancouver fans tweet about R and Nilsson and their excellent seasons, meanwhile Jeffrey Pines has the greatest chance of catching Matty Socks @fishy (the only other future Hall of Famer in the class) in points, and he even has a chance to break into the top 10. Are Vancouver fans so elitist they don't consider Pines 26 game start part of his season? Canadian hockey fans know hockey - they wouldn't be tricked by the portal not combining stats on the leaderboard, right?
