I can't remember when was the last time I updated checking, but right now it's at 46. How many hits and penalty minutes do I have? Has to be a pretty low number, right? Wrong. I have 140 hits this season, and I also have 96 penalty minutes. Being in a rebuilding team more than likely has something to do with those numbers as the opposite team controls the puck more than we do and I also play in our own zone more often. Both translate into more opportunities for hits and penalties.

 

It is still interesting to think that I'm only around 80 penalty minutes from the leading penalty minute collector in the league. Druss Deathwalker has 173 penalty minutes. If I worked at it, I could perhaps give Druss and other top dogs a fair competition. Then again, focusing on checking and collecting penalty minutes is not really my game. I'm trying to be a clean player, but the penalty minutes just keep on coming. Last year I had 54 penalty minutes. I also played less, but still. Am I a dirty player now?
