Name: Seymour Butts

Age: 18

Position: Right Wing

Height: 6’8”

Weight: 250 lbs.

Country of Birth: Burnaby, Canada

Seymour Butts, of the Philadelphia Reapers, has been lacklustre to say the most this season, however he is looking like a diamond in the rough. Knowing his history as a player who had a tragedy that left him paralyzed for a few years, this is seemingly like it's a redemption arc for Seymour. He's been on pace for just under a 0.5 PPG this season with 7 goals and 8 assists with 32 games played. He has been an integral piece to the Reapers this season who are placed in 3rd place in the Eastern Division of the VHLM.

Pros:

1.) Big Body

Seymour is a 6'8" giant at the age of 18 years old. He's young and strong enough to withstand anything in his way and gets in the way of shots very easily. This type of height and weight is ideal even at the top level. This also allows him to have one of the harder shots in the VHLM. His shot can be deadly if hit right and at the right moment. He's also able to zone players out of play just by being in the way sometimes. It's a smart and efficient way to defend the play without giving away any sort of penalty ever.

2.) Leader on and off the ice

Some of his coaches in the peewee and other levels of hockey have all noted that he tries to elevate his teammates. He pushes them to not just be better players but also better people. He's lead his team to a national championship in the past with the C on and a lot of the coaching staff mentioned that he was a huge part of that off the ice. He's a quick thinker, one of the fastest players to remind players how to behave and lifts the team in any situation that the players needed. Coaches absolutely love him.

Cons:

1.) Skating

As noted previously, Seymour struggled with a tragedy that left him in a wheelchair. Due to this, he lost a lot of his skating prowess. In fact, I have no doubt that Seymour will be able to bring it back completely. It will take him time to become a competent skater once again but it was one of the things lots of scouts were mentioning was a huge positive of his before the tragedy. I genuinely believe he has it in him to bring it back. He's a very determined player.

2.) Suffers from low confidence

Imagine being a top tier prospect, suffering a tragedy and losing it all? My personal opinion is that Seymour has suffered a lot and I have no doubt that he will regain his confidence but right now his confidence is shot. He's been extremely down on himself and the right organization has to bring out the old Seymour. I think if he gets drafted by a good VHL organization with strong ethics and values, he will bounce back. His entire career is based on his confidence in my opinion. This could be the biggest steal in the draft if they can bring it out of him mentally.
