Ryuji Sakamoto and the Mexico City Kings are off to a hot start four games into the VHLM's 82nd season. With a 3-1 record, the Kings have had balanced scoring and solid goaltending leading the charge. Every skater on the Mexico City roster has at least one point, and rookie netminder Brandt Fuhr is sporting a .907 save percentage between the pipes.

Up front, the trio of Hasbulla Magomedov, Calen McKay, and Hayden Rain have a combined 21 points on the season, with centerman McKay pacing the team with 4 goals in those 4 games. Sakamoto leads the defensive scoring with 4 assists, as well as a lion's share of defensive stats, such as 14 hits and 16 blocked shots.

"There are tons of little moments in every game that can lead to victory or defeat," Sakamoto said, following the Kings' only loss on the season, a 4-1 tilt against the Houston Bulls. "Tonight, we didn't make the right decision in those moments, and we saw our 3 game winning streak come to an end. But we know what we need to do to bounce back, and I'm looking forward to getting back out there."
