High Fives all around for Oskars Harumpf!

Everyone congratulates Harumpf on a strong season.

Oskars Harumpf, the diminutive Danish scoring star for the Saskatoon Wild turned in a solid season and proved he can hold his own in the VHLM. Harumpf finished the year as top 2 center and ended up with 16 points in 43 games. He got hot down the stretch, scoring 8 points in the final 11 games. Finally starting to score at near a point per game pace, Oskars is looking like he could become an exceptional player in this league. His playmaking was evident by his 12 assists compared to 4 goals. At a 3 to 1 ratio, he projects out to being an incredible set up man going forward. He also seems to be easy to play with as he had great chemistry with Iginla and Galbraith, that trio was on fire down the stretch for the Wild. Harumpf was also excellent in the face off circle, finishing the season at 49% and he improved that 8% over the final 11 games. Which means that Harumpf was well over 50% in many of those games. His face off prowess seems to be another strong area of his game.

Harumpf is also contributing in other areas besides scoring and setting up his linemates for goals. His hitting has been very impressive and he's proven to be solid defensively, which often times is a weakness in a young players game. Not Harumpf though, as he's already seemed to grip the defensive aspect of the game. He finished with a +9 rating and also logged some penalty killing time. It's great to see the coaching staff having that kind of confidence in him as a player. It speaks volumes about his ability and character. He also proved to be rather gritty as he racked up 51 hits and 16 penalty minutes in 43 games. Harumpf does not shy away from contact and despite his short stature, just 5'5", his tremendous body weight makes up for it. At 250 pounds he's incredibly stout and strong on his skates, he's nearly impossible to move in front of the net and is a nightmare in the corners. He can just get low and sneak out on you. It's dangerous. Harumpf has proven to be very physical this season, throwing more than a hit per game is a good sign for a player that has no practice hours into hitting yet. It may just be a natural strength of his game due to his unique size. Regardless, he is killing people out there and a physical playmaking center who's good on draws and responsible defensively is what every team dreams of.

Harumpf will now look to the playoffs and helping the Saskatoon Wild advance to the finals. The wild have a great chance to win the championship and Harumpf will likely be a big part of it. If he can continue his excellent play of late into the playoffs, the Wild will have a great chance to win. He'll likely be leaned on heavily for draws along with Kez Kincaid and the two should be strong down the middle for Saskatoon. Harumpf's strong finish to a solid season and projection as a future high level playmaker has many people excited around the league.
