The Ducky Interviews featuring Landon Wolanin Episode 9

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! After a bit of a hiatus, Ducky here to interview our favourite guest, Landon Wolanin! A lot has happened since we last heard from Landon, so let’s get into it! Why don’t you give us a quick update on how your teams have been doing so far, almost halfway into the season?

Thanks Ducky! Why don’t I start with San Diego? The Marlins have been very busy in the last couple of weeks and as of writing this sit in first place in the league! We have made several moves recently, pulling in AK92 Wit Da Hoodie, Boston and Curtis Crumb via trades and despite not seeing much success, have been putting in the work to recruit waiver players. Everyone has been making lots of progress in regards to training, and I’m super proud of all of my Marlins for their commitment to the team game this season. We have been winning games with our strong defence, led by our goaltenders and 5 capped D, and following that up with an ever-improving transition offense. Super excited to see how we can continue to push against the likes of Las Vegas and Halifax, and Miami who seem to be giving us the most trouble, thanks to Art Vandelay.

Istanbul got off to a bit of a rocky start but managed to settle into 3rd place, at east until a surging Rush team overtook us. We have all been earning really well, and it has been very inspiring to participate in a team environment that encourages development like Istanbul has so far. Carrying a lot of high VHL draft picks, from the S83 draft and at least one more for the S84 draft. Landon hasn’t exactly performed at a high offensive level yet this season, currently sitting at 8 points in 22 games, but after a 2-goal affair yesterday, anything could happen. There’s still plenty of time in the season, and there is still plenty of room to grow before the season ends. Landon has been taking up a much more defensive role on the team these days, leading the penalty kill and being the puck retriever for the 3rd line. A different role than usual for sure, but it has been a fun new challenge, and should provide valuable experience for the VHL next season.

Calgary has had an interesting run as of late. They have fallen down the standings over the past few weeks, getting dominated by their unforeseen rivals Chicago over and over again. They’ve seen some individual success, but the most important thing that Calgary has done this season is keeping up an active locker room. Ricer has put a lot of work into maintaining conversation with players as much as possible, especially given the state of the team and the record the team has put together so far. They’re not out of reach for the playoffs by any means, but it would take a decent turnaround to put a deep run together as of now.

Awesome thanks for your time as always Landon, and perhaps we will see you again next week!
