The Saskatoon Wild, who were one point shy of sitting idle for the first round of the playoffs, started off their North American Conference first round battle with the Brampton Blades. In Game 1, the Wild entered the hostile grounds of Brampton's territory filled with East Indians and skated away with a narrow 3-2 victory in overtime. Trade Deadline acquisition Kez Kincaid scored the winner at the 12:53 mark of the first overtime. In Game 2, the Wild completed the road sweep, securing a 4-2 win, thanks in part to a gutsy effort by Saskatoon's second line consisting of Ashton Galbraith, Jarome Iginla and Oskars Harumpf. The trio combined for 8 points and 14 shots in the contest. In Game 3 back at the Credit Union Centre, the Blades got themselves back in the series thanks to a 6-5 victory with the winning goal coming off of the stick of Niklas Kurri, the same Niklas Kurri who Terence Fong attempted to release earlier in the season. With the series now 2-1 for the Wild and Game 4 slated for tonight or sometime this week, the stakes are bigger than ever, as this game could solidify the end result.

In other Saskatoon Wild-related news, the Credit Union Centre next season will be called the SaskTel Centre. The Provinces Crown Corporation adhered the naming rights after the deal expired with the Saskatchewan's alliance of Credit Unions.
