Matt Murdock had a joyous and tragic life until his entry into the VHLM. When Matt was young his father Jonathan emphasized his need to study. He didn’t want Matt to end up like him and to be more successful, he emphasized to study, so Matt could become a doctor or lawyer instead of a “uneducated pug”. His constant studying led to neighborhood kids bullying Matt. This would be important as Matt would take his frustrations out by secretly training in his fathers gym.

One day while walking home from school, Matt noticed a blind man walking towards a truck. Matt pushed the man out of the way but the truck carrying radioactive isotope spilled out, hitting Matt's face and blinding him. When Matt awoke in the hospital he could no longer see, but his hearing, smell, taste, and touch became amplified.

A few months later Matt would receive training from his master Stick. Stick taught Matt how to take control of his new abilities and to train him in acrobatics and martial arts. During all of this Matt continued his studies and entered into Columbia Law school. He achieved his fathers goal of being a lawyer.

While at Columbia Matt happened to be in the ice arena during a practice one day. While he was trying to find his way around in the stands a puck managed to go over the glass. It was heading towards Matt at a pretty quick speed when Matt just put his hand out to catch it. Most of the players and coaching staff thought it was a fluke, until it happened again. This second time everyone took notice. They immediately found a pair of pads for Matt to try on and got him in the net. The rest was history. Matt played in the Ivy League for an original member of said league. Murdock finished in the league with 46 games played 39 games won, a 1.3 GAA and a .938 save percentage. This led Matt to being a Hobey Baker finalist but losing out to another goalie in Dryden McKay of Minnesota State.

This caught the attention of Arce who invited Murdock to come play for the Houston Bulls. All of that training as a kid, working with Stick and honing his senses benefitted him in his career. He had a great run in college and we can only see where he goes from here. While the Houston contract is only on a free agency contract, Matt is going to make the most of it and show that he can indeed work his way through the VHL system.
