Failedthe King 38
HC Davos Dynamo I honestly think it's a cool and unique look, especially combined with the rarity of purple in modern sports uniforms and logos. The only complaint I have for this logo is that it looks eerily similar to the Colorado Rockies (MLB Baseball), but I think it is a good logo nevertheless. I would be glad to play under this banner, a solid 8/10. Moscow Menace I personally love the Moscow logo, and not just because Spartan is one of my favorite people in the entirety of VHL. I think it is a great look for Moscow’s finest, the details surrounding the facial structure and the crown are some of the best the VHL has to offer. I give Moscow a 9/10 in conclusion, a great logo. New York Americans The Americans logo is the first logo I will criticize for being basic, even if it does a good job representing the team. In the end I believe a logo update would greatly benefit the Americans and their identity, but I don’t think the logo is completely terrible, the shield certainly is symbolic. I give the Americans a 3/10. Calgary Wranglers I actually very much like Calgary’s logo. It is a great representation of the city of Calgary and its history, as well having many good designs that help it along the way. While I feel the old Calgary logo lacked personality, this one definitely redefines the logo, and is a deserved update. I give this logo an 8/10 in the end, because I simply just admire it. D.C Dragons I honestly respect DC’s logo and where they were trying to go, but I can’t find anywhere special for it in my heart. It feels too much like a generic NHL22 expansion franchise for me to feel attached or remember the logo. I can’t deny the art on the dragon looks nice, and I personally love wordmarks. I also give DC a 5/10. London United I honestly like London’s logo. I think it does a great job capturing the England tone, which should be the goal of any logo and their team. I don’t like it enough to give it a very high ranking though, I feel like there is something small missing in this logo that could elevate it. A respectable 6/10 for London. Seattle Bears The Bears logo is a rare result of simplicity and logic being great. The bear itself may lack a huge personality, but being the center of the logo supported by its wordmark and shield certainly does help it out. I can’t help but think of what this logo could be with a few tweaks and changes though, 4/10. Los Angeles Stars The Stars logo isn’t overly complicated, but for what it is meant to accomplish it serves its purpose very well. I only dislike it because of what more the design could be, but it isn’t a bad logo at all. While it is simplistic, I can’t help but at least give LA a 5/10. Prague Phantons I think the Phantoms have a neat and unique logo, but other than that I do not think it stands out design wise. The color scheme is nice and corresponds well with the overall art scheme of the logo, but I don’t believe it does so much as to compete with the elite VHL logos. I give the Phantoms a 3/10. Toronto Legion Toronto’s logo is another case of simplicity paying off. I love the overall design and centric nature of the bird and wordmark, but again I don’t think it does so much that it makes Toronto’s logo stand out among the elite (similar to Prague I know). I think a redesign of the bird or a logo remake entirely would greatly benefit Toronto, but it isn’t entirely terrible as it is. 4/10. Malmo Nighthawks The only big complaint I have of the Nighthawks logo is the similarities it shares with the DC Dragons logo. While they are different in color scheme, the wordmark pattern and overall art design of the hawk reminds me of the dragon, it almost feels like a feeder team to DC logo wise. Still, similar to DC I think it is a respectable 5/10. Riga Reign Riga probably has my personal favorite logo aside from Moscow in the entire VHL. The lion looks like a true predator, the artwork almost resonates a royal vibe with it through and through. I think whoever designed this logo did a perfect job, and for that I give them a 9/10. Helsiniki Titans I think the Titans have a good logo, but not a great logo. The artwork is very simple but benefits from it in a way. Similar to DC and Malmo the Helsinki logo reminds me a lot of the Toronto Legion, but I like it a lot more than Toronto’s with a better logo art design. I give Helsinki a good 7/10. Vancouver Wolves I dislike Vancouver’s logo, but not because it is bad. I feel like the shield background could be much more, and the wolf could have so much more personality in its howl. This almost feels like a white Arizona Coyotes logo, which is one of my least favorite NHL logos. 4/10 because it isn’t entirely terrible. Warsaw Predators Warsaw has a unique and good logo in many ways. The unique artwork and animal design makes it one of my personal favorites, the logo feels like it has genuine personality while not doing much. Balance can be very difficult, but I feel like Warsaw did an excellent job here. 8/10 is a good spot for Warsaw.
