Jarkko Olsen a Free Agent?

Breaking news out of Davos today as GM Mike Molholt announced he would be stepping down following the conclusion of the VHL Finals. The slightly less breaking news is the future of Davos' winger Jarkko Olsen. Olsen will be entering his final year in the league, and had not reached a negotiation with Molholt for his final season. The S33 has never been a free agent in the league, and could use this last opportunity to test his value on the open market. Olsen has been a cog in the Davos machine for two cup victories, with the potential for a third.

 

Olsen has denied commenting on his impending free agency, as he is focused solely on the finals and bringing home that third cup. However, as we speculate what his future might hold, it is important to note that next year could be Olsen's best of his career. While as a young star his future shined bright and faded out quickly, he came back as a strong role player and key depth piece for the Dynamo. Olsen experienced his best season in S38, and has had a bit of a downturn this year. However, we are under the impression that Olsen has been getting himself into the best shape of his career in preparation for his last season. Olsen should be heading into his final year with the best possible outlook, having improved in a couple of categories, and having fully recovered from the offseason regression that he will go through. Granted, this will still not make Olsen a top player in the league, but he has been a top 5-6 RW for the past 2 seasons, and could look to fare even better this coming year. Could he be the key to another cup run, perhaps even for a new team?
