Looking ahead

With the 9th overall pick in the VHL Entry Draft, the Toronto Legion selected Tyler Busser @lll, a 6 foot center out of San Diego. With the Marlins last season, Busser scored 31 goals and notched 50 assists, showing himself to be a versatile offensive threat. He also tallied over 2 hits per game, finishing the season with 158. While he's not quite ready to make the jump to the VHL, he's already put in a great deal of work since the draft and appears poised to be one of the stars of the VHLE next season.

"I saw he's heading to Istanbul," said Ryuji Sakamoto, Toronto Legion blueliner and one of the standout players for the Istanbul Red Wolves last season. "Lots of guys there will help Busser find his way, and it's a great city to play in. Lots of ramen shops, man!"

With their 1st round selections in back to back drafts, the Legion have drafted players that were later targeted in the VHLE Draft by the Red Wolves. So far, it looks as if Sakamoto could be a key cog for the Legion's future successes, and hopefully for Toronto fans, Busser will be just a step behind.
