Thunder 1,205
The season is one-third into it and there is one GM who deserves to be called out and given credit for taking a team from the cellar to a competing team right on the heels of season 83 VHLM champions. This general manager is none other than Bad Cole the Titan. More commonly known as Cole. Cole is the rookie GM for the Mexico City Kings and deservedly got the job after spending two season as AGM with the Philadelphia Reapers. Cole took the role as GM and ran with it. He spent countless hours conducting research on the draft and determining who would best fit in with the team and his plan on building a future for the Mexico City Kings. The interviews were straight forward and gave both the draftee and Cole a good idea of what could be expected. Cole was clearly looking for players who were active in the locker room, cared about their TPE, and their willingness to be a part of the team. He researched all the information made available to him, including their TPE history and discord history. In addition to checking on the draft list, Cole spent time analyzing the other teams and their picks for the draft. He meticulously charted out his projection on what teams needed and who they would select and factored those into his own decisions. With all of this said, Cole has put together a solid, well rounded team that will be competing for the cup this season and more seasons to come. Mexico City had the first overall pick and Cole expertly decided on a goalie. Henry Tucker Jr, has proven to be a success as he leads the net minding with an impressive 2.16 GAA, 2nd in the VHLM. Already at 188 TPE, Tucker will surely jump to the VHLE next season and could be a steal for a future VHL team. He resonates team play and cares about the success of the Kings. At the 9th spot, Cole picked up Doug Britton, a solid defenseman, who is a contributor on offense and defense. He punishes the opposing teams with menacing hits and then expertly places the puck at the stick of his teammates to slap the puck in the net. Britton is headed to the Geneva Rush next season and the Malmo Nighthawks in season 86. Britton is another max TPE earner and contributor to the team. William Futch was smartly selected by Cole in the second round. Futch currently leads the team in points and is tied for the lead in goals. The solid center likes to hit opponents as well but does not take too many penalties. Like Britton, Futch will be headed to Geneva next season and will likely be moving on to the New York Americans in season 86. The steal of the draft has got to be Tater Tottingham, who Cole picked up half way through the second round. Tottingham is every GM’s dream of a team player. Tottingham is on the top of the shots blocked list, high on stats for total points, and contributes with passing and assists. Tottingham is active on discord and his graphics are truly entertaining, given the unique namesake chosen for his player. Tottingham earns plenty of TPE each week to continue to build himself to be a solid defender when he moves up to the E or the VHL. Finishing the second round, Cole picked up a solid defenseman, Shaggy Tipton. Now, Tipton does not max earn TPE each week, but nevertheless, Tipton contributes on the ice. Tipton rounds out the defense with solid numbers in hits, shots blocked, and points. Like Britton, Shaggy Tipton gets his share of penalty minutes, putting the other teams on notice that the Mexico City Kings are in it to win it. Halvar Torbjorn, Scottie House, and Alexander Stroheim were solid additions to the team and Cole has found perfect spots for them as the team battles for the top of the western conference. Jason, Parker Lamar, and Captain Nugget have contributed to the success this season. Miguel Martinez Gonzalez joined the team after the first week and is also a contributor. In addition to the players listed above, Cole made a wise decision by selecting Jeremy Swayman as back up goalie, to give Henry Tucker the rest he deserves. There you have it, a recap of the outstanding decisions Cole made to bring the Mexico City Kings out of the tumbleweeds and into contention. All of the players on the Mexico City Kings deserve credit for the success as its this fine group of players Cole selected who are making this a success. This group stays involved and contributes. Like the Las Vegas Aces GM, Shindigs, Cole demonstrates the true intentions of the VHL by having people actively involved in making everything a success. Cole is constantly looking to improve the team and makes solid decisions each day as he gains more experience to prove his worth in the league as a VHLM GM. There is no doubt Cole will someday move up to the VHL and manage a champion team, but until then, lets celebrate the success of the Mexico City Kings and lets all hope the Kings kick the Aces ass! Sorry Shindigs! Alex and Scurvy 2 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/123832-cole-leads-mexico-city-kings-into-contention/ Share on other sites
