Many of the fans in Calgary were not surprised to see The Wranglers defeat Toronto so quickly. Despite the unpredictable nature of playoff hockey, when a superior team faces an inferior team, the expectation is that the superior team comes out as the winner. That is what we saw in the Toronto series. Calgary did not give Toronto any chance to win. As Calgary moves on to the next round even larger portion of the Calgary fans treat the upcoming series against D.C Dragons as a "warm up" for the real games. Calgary is once again seen as the heavy favorite to win the series.

The official Twitter page for Calgary Wranglers has been the home for fans to share their opinions on the upcoming D.C series and on whether they would want to play against Chicago or Seattle next. Here are some of the tweets:

@Don2521: "D.C is a cute team. I think the playing style of D.C is closer to Chicago, both are one of the softest teams in the league, so in that sense, the D.C series will be good practice if Chicago makes it to the next round."

@bbbbb4r2414: "D.C is a team, that much is true, but a team that can beat Calgary?"

@Whof21: "In my mind, Seattle would be a more fun team to play against, they are the better team. At some point, you want to play against good teams in the playoffs, so you find the rhythm and you improve"

@0gg1: " I have to agree with @Whof21, we can not play against easy teams all the time, this is not going to be good for us in the long run. Luckily the D.C series will be over quickly, so we can at least practice a lot and focus on the next round.

@CalgaryWranglersOfficial: "Limit time and space of Idaho and Sova, that is D.C gameplan done. What you have left then is D.C Wagons, they will be carried off the ice and to the beach via wagons".

Ultimately, we can expect a short series. Calgary as a superior team is more than likely going to walk past the D.C Dragons. What kind of effect another easy series will have on championship hopes of Calgary is another question, but that is the reality of playoff hockey sometimes. You need to be ready to play no matter what. Sometimes you might have to play against teams that are considered "wildcards" that could technically beat you, but in reality, they have an extremely low chance to do so. We have seen it this year with Toronto already and all the signs point towards the same happening with D.C Dragons. The D.C team has a few good players that are doing a lot of heavy lifting, but when we are talking about playoff hockey - the team is what matters. The comparison of teams clearly puts Calgary as the favorite.

Luckily for the fans of Calgary and fans of hockey, the closer you get to the VHL finals, the higher the quality of the games will be. In that sense, it is understandable why so many Calgary fans are eagerly already waiting for the next round.
