Another week of trying to earn the 6 tpe with a podcast came to an abrupt end as I tried yet again to put one together.  I have some bitching ideas, but just cant get past the recording!  So, if you continue to read this, you will get a jaded in-depth analysis of the next round of the playoffs, Moscow Menace vs HC Davos Dynamo.

Starting with the GM’s.  Spartan is a top general manager and has proven his worth with Moscow leading the European Conference and going into the playoffs as the #1 seed, and is likely the favorite for winning the championship.  Spartan shocked the VHL this season by trading Duncan Idaho, clearly one of the best players in the VHL.  Looking like it weakened the team was most definitely the wrong assumption as Moscow is stacked with experience and the hole was filled without a hitch.  On the other end, we have Davos GM, Alex.  Like Moscow, Alex is a proven GM with a ton of experience and VHL skill.  Alex took a rebuilding team, put together some brilliant moves and additions, and came up with a solid team to carry into the playoffs.  Alex is a genius!

Winner - Alex HC Davos

The comparison of forwards on paper is a no brained; however, this isnt a basic analysis, this is a deep, deep analysis.  I mean, who could argue that Moscow has the advantage considering they were the top scorers in the league, boast a lineup of true all stars, to include the top rookie in Tomas Sogaard.  Who could argue?  Me.  HC Davos’ forwards are tough, blue collar, and they grind it out to get wins.  Zeedayno Charo, Vinnie Detroit, and Napoleon Dynamite, are not the only contributors.  Pete Mitchell, who may look like he’s not involved in the team’s wins, is a playoff phenomenon.  Watch Mitchell score goals, feed scorers, and dominate the next round.

Winner - HC Davos

When you look at the two defenses, once again it appears that Moscow dominates on paper.  Considering they have allowed the fewest goals all season, and have the top defenseman in the league, in Hard Markinson, one might expect this comparison is an easy decision.  Well, slow your roll.  David Tavau, Siyan Yasilievich, and James Teekirque, have created a solid wall behind the blue line and will likely shut down any chances Moscow might throw at them.

Winner - HC Davos

Finally, comparing the goalies is yet another example of what may appear on paper is not actually what one might expect.  Papa Emeritus has led Moscow to the best record in the league.  Papa has the most wins under his belt and boasts the second highest save percentage.  Now, when you dissect the Davos goalies, you’ll find that Davos goalie, Aike van Giersbergen holds the highest save percentage.  Starting goalie, David Davis, has incredible stats.  Getting pounded by shots, Davis has been one of the most productive moves this season for Davos.  He’s a brick wall.  Not to take anything away from Papa Emeritus, he just doesn’t stand a chance against the Davos power and energy.

Winner. - HC Davos

There you have it, the analysis of the best of seven series between Moscow and HC Davos.  Based on the analysis above, the prediction is for HC Davos to win the series in six games.
