SAN DIEGO — Quite the news story has broken out in the hockey world, as three VHLM prospects accidentally set their oven on fire in a failed attempt to make chocolate soufflé.

Emergency services were reportedly called to the San Diego home after a frantic phone call made by winger Sadie St-Louis (@sadie). The other two players were identified as her Marlins teammates— winger John Richards (@John Cimarno) and goaltender Lachlan Summers.

Few details were initially released about the kitchen fire. However, sources stated that during the prospects’ attempt to make the dessert, the parchment paper inside of the home oven had caught fire without the three realizing until smoke bellowed in their kitchen.

Summers and Richards were the ones to discover the flames. With quick thinking, Richards retrieved a fire extinguisher and was able to prevent any further damage while St-Louis made the 911 call. The three young stars are uninjured and their home was left mostly untouched by the flames.

During a Junior Showcase press conference, Summers was asked about the incident, and his response was as follows. “I asked John and Sadie to preheat the oven to 400 degrees and immediately lower it after putting the soufflés in. Must’ve not been able to understand my accent or something because they accidentally increased it instead.”

The Australian also added that the incident was also quite humorous to look back on after they had to replace the oven due to the damages caused by the fire, but is grateful that they made it out with no injuries.
