How to watch Sunday's World Cup of Hockey 2016 games: Russia, Team North America debut - St. Louis Game Time

Sergey Gets the Call

Moscow- Some exciting news came up a few days ago that the Russian Center, Sergey Preobrazhensky would be participating in the Hockey World Cup for team East Europe. Having the opportunity to represent his country while playing alongside some of the greatest players the VHL has to offer. Sergey was able to talk to us on the ice while getting ready to face the competition.

Reporter: Hello Sergey, once again you’ve been selected into the World Cup once again for Eastern Europe. How much does this mean to you?

Sergey: “You already know it means a ton for myself. I know that I’ve been one of the hardest workers in the VHL, and having my name called out on one of the roster spots for Eastern Europe tells me I’m doing something right. Going into the offseason, I really didn’t put too much attention on the upcoming World Cup but now that I’ve been selected, this tournament will mean everything for me. ”

Reporter: “Team Eastern Europe sure has a ton of talent. Including a number of Russian players, I’m sure you’ve took inspiration from some of them when you started out, how does it finally feel to meet and actually play with these players”

Sergey: “Oh it’s going to be a very big deal. These players are talked about heavily in Russia, you could say that some of them are even national celebrities of Russia. Being able to play with all of them is a dream come true for a guy like me. I know for a fact that we’ll be able to make some magic happen together.”

Reporter: “How did being called to play in the World Cup affect your offseason plan?”

Sergey: “Being on the World Cup team definitely changed my plans nonetheless. Although I was planning to bulk up more and make some gains in the gym, I guess I will have to push those plans back for the time being. Although my offseason plans and goals mean a lot to me, the annual VHL World Cup is just something I cannot pass up on. Having more time on the ice never hurt anybody.”

Reporter: “Last but not least, How do you think your team will do at the World Cup?”

Sergey: “Why is this a question? This is an obvious answer, with a roster full of stars, I know for a fact that Team Eastern Europe will bring home gold. I’m looking forward to seeing such a dominant team on offense, while having a young, but underrated defense behind us. This team is going to be exciting to watch.”

It’s safe to say that Sergey is looking forward to all the fun and excitement that the World Cup brings us fans and players alike. This World Cup will be something like no other, with all participating teams having a legitimate shot for gold. As the World Cup starts tomorrow, we wish all players and teams good luck on their World Cup journey!
