Harumpf 313
Harumpf Ready for First Full VHLM Season After coming in during the middle of the S39 season, Oskars Harumpf struggled to find his place in a league of much more experienced hockey players. He started off slow but kept working hard to improve and eventually found his groove. He only played in 43 regular season games least year and manged to put up 16 points. Not a bad half season for a true rookie and he improved greatly as the season progressed. He then had 10 points in 14 playoff games and was a key contribitor for a Saskatoon team that went to 7 games in the conference finals with the eventual champs. That's all ancient history now though as Harumpf has a new VHLM team. In fact he has 2 new teams as he was taken 6th overall by the Helsinki Titans in the VHL draft and 4th overall by the Bratislava Watchmen in the VHLM dispersal draft. Needless to say it's been an exciting last couple weeks for Harumpf as he's met many new teammates in both leagues. He's looking forward to getting back on the ice though and his outlook for Bratislava this season is very bright. With an opportunity to play a full 72 game season, Harumpf has a chance to become a star as he'll begin the year as one of the more talented players in the entire VHLM. This is quite a change from last year where he entered as a complete unknown. Last year he had to work his way up the depth chart, but this season he should be given top minutes right out of the gate. With the puck on his stick more this season he should be able to shatter last years regular season numbers and really play a big role for his new team. His utlimate goal is the win the championship, but he also wants to improve as a player. It's entirely possible he could score at a point per game pace this season and even exceed that if he shows quick chemistry with his linemates. Harumpf is a set-up man first and a shooter second. He will always look for a pass, but realizes this season he must not force it, if he has a shot he will take it. Harumpf actually worked on shooting during the break. After only taking 45 shots in 43 games last season, shooting was an area of his game that Harumpf wanted to improve. He will always be a pass first player, but he managed to get 60 practice hours into shooting this off-season. Harumpf feels like he's capable of burying a goal now if he needs to, but still wants to end up with a 3 to 1 assist to goal ratio. That's what he was at last season, but he knows this season he will be looked to as a leader and will be expected to contribute in the goal column, not just with assists. Harumpf feels his shot is at a point where it can be useful now and it should be another dangerous aspect of his game. Harumpf will continue to focus on defense and passing throughout the season as well on work on his puck handling and skating. With a full season ahead of him in the VHLM that includes 72 games plus playoffs, Harumpf should settle in as one of the top players in the VHLM this season. He's excited to be playing for Bratislava as it's reasonably close to his home town of Middelfart, Denmark. He expects to have family at home games on more than one occasion. It should be a very special year for Harumpf and he's definitely ready for it. 610 Words.
