Canucks fans rejoice as team advances | CBC News

Henry Eagles and the Vancouver Wolves will play their final season game today before switching gears and starting to prepare for the upcoming playoffs. The Wolves overall had a great season and depending on if they win or lose their last game, can clinch 2nd overall in the North American conference.

While the Wolves had a very strong season, the same cannot be said for Henry, who struggled in his first season in the VHL. With one game left, Henry, is sitting with 12 goals and 17 assists for a total of 29 points. These totals didn't even put him anywhere close in the top 10 rookies points this season and saw the first overall pick be left behind by other rookies in the league, even those who were drafter in the same season as him.

" It was a tough start to my VHL career but I can only keep getting better. To me, the points really don't matter. All I wanted and cared about is my team winning and having the best chance in the playoffs and we have achieved that" Henry says "My goal now is to train and get better for the playoffs. This team has a great group of players who are really talented. We have the drive to win and that is what we will be focusing on"

Henry, in his past playoff stints in the VHLM and E, seems to always shine when the playoffs roll around. In the VHL he put up 5 points in 4 games and in the E he put up 5 points in 6 games. The Wolves will be hoping that Henry can once again show that type of drive when the playoffs get under way.

"I thrive under pressure and the playoffs just breed pressure. It's a whole different type of game compared to the regular season and this is where I will thrive" Henry continued "I may not have had the best regular season, but mark my words, I will play a lot better in the playoffs. I will do what it takes to help this team win whether its scoring goals or setting up my line-mates. Everyone will think I am a different player!"

It is believed the Wolves are hoping to avoid Seattle in the first round as the Bears always seem to turn into a completely different team and finds ways to win in the playoffs no matter where they finish in the standings. When speaking with Henry, these rumours seemed to be squashed.

" We don't have a preference, we will play whoever we get. In order to win the cup you have to beat the best, so there is no talk in the locker room about who we want to avoid or not " Henry said " Plus it's out of our hands...the only thing we control is how well we play with whoever we get matched up with. If we play poorly we won't advance, it's simple as that"

Henry will be looking for follow his grandfathers footsteps in winning a cup in his first rookie season, surprisingly enough his grandfather, Greg Eagles, won the cup wearing a Wolves Jersey.
