Yaroslav Trunov has played his very first VHLM games and now it is time to drop a few lines about his Junior career with some notes about his talent, expectations and reviews. As his brother, Bogdan, Yaroslav was born in Kursk, Russia and decided to step on the rink when he was 6 years old. Playing in the NMHL ( russian counterpart of NCAA) Trunov was a nice playmaker with an ability to move the puck using his offensive mindset and smooth hands. However, the hockey team from his native town has always been at the basement of the standings so Yaroslav does not have any playoffs experience and that could be a disadvantage and it might effect on his projected dradt position. A lot of teams were in a big need of that type of player like Trunov but he didn't think about moving from his family and Kursk. Anyway , it is not even a debate that Yaroslav stood out from the whole league among his peers showing how flashy and creative he is. During the previous regular season "Ya" played 46 games and got 19 goals and 28 assists with 47 points in total, ended his NMHL season and was named "The Best Winger of the League". Being point per game forward he decided to take a shot in the VHLM and signed his first contract with Ottawa Lynx where his brother was a captain during the S78. That is a perfect place to start your path. At the place where you are not the last guy in the locker room despite you will leave the organisation when VHLM draft starts. Obviously, Trunov never showed great defensive plays and it is an aspect that he had better start upgrading as soon as he can. Yaroslav frequently got top-6 minutes when he was a child and it had a positive impact on his development as a leader on and off the ice. Hard to say where Yaroslav will be after the VHLM draft but there is no doubt that he is a top-pick worth prospect with a huge ton of potential to become even greater than Bogdan who lifted the cup as a captain with Predators.  Looks like playing hockey on the top level becomes a tradition as we might see the born of another high-end talent guy with the patch "Trunov" on his back and who knows whether he lifts the cup as he brother did. Only time will show!
