Okay so we are now officially between seasons so we are going to play a different Press conference game:

You are going to get to write in methods:

1) Give me a rhyming couplet for a player on London United from season 90.

2) Give me a simile for your own player

3) Give me a metaphor for one of the commissioners

4) If Jacob's name was an acronym what would it stand for

5) Make an anagram of one of the players names on the team in season 90

6) Write an acrostic for London United

I know I am a horrible person.

I know I am a horrible person.

My goodness you are making us work for our TPE lol

1.  Winning games is our goal; Simon's payment is our soul.

2.  Leonard Triller is a psychic hawk on the ice.  He sees plays before they happen and can thread a pass from the opposite end of the rink.

3.  Acydburn is like the ghost of a rocket scientist.  I never see them, don't know what they do or how they do it and I had to look up if they were actually a commissioner!

4. J - Juggernaut of the game

A - Adept at hockey

C - Commands the team

O - Organizing plays

B - Brilliant General Manager

This took me the longest to do.  Even more than the anagram.

5.  An anagram of the name "Thor Odinson" is "No Irons Hood."  What does it mean... nothing.  This was hard!

6.  Loyal to their city, they proudly play,

On the ice, their skills on full display,

Never giving up, they stand as one,

Determined and strong, until the game is won,

Onward they go, united under the sun,

Never backing down, for them, the game's just begun.

Unwavering in their teamwork and might,

Never giving up, they continue the fight,

In unity, they stand side by side,

Together they conquer, with hearts open wide,

Every challenge they meet with pride,

Destined to win, with every stride.

I actually nailed this one pretty quickly and am quite proud of it!  Had the flow going!  Used "never" a lot but it works!

Well Season 91 is fast approaching and so I want to first welcome all our new players to the team.

For the last few season I have had the pleasure or writing the teams press conferences (it started because Dil was late getting them out)

I try to make them fun, sometimes challenging but generally kind of weird.  Please remember all answers must be in the form of a sentence.

This weeks press conference will be a association game, for each category please pick one London player (management is allowed) then pick a character from that category you associate with the London player and let us know why you picked that.

1) Winnie the Pooh

2) Lord of the Rings

3) Saturday Cartoons

4) Your favorite Book

5) Harry Potter

6) Disney Cartoons

Have fun

  • 2 weeks later...

As we have a number of new players (returning) this season we are going to do a more basic get to know you sort of press conference.

Please ensure all answers are in sentence format

1) If your player could be hired for one company/product for endorsement purposes, which company would it be and which product?

2) If your player could change to any other position on the team which would they choose and why?

3) If you could give the GM a nickname what would you call him and why?

4) If you had the responsibility to choose the pregame meal, what would everyone be eating, why did you pick this?

5) What is your expectation for personal production this year (Goals and Assists) - I even want the goalie to answer this one?

6) What is one positive thing you could do in the locker room to help the team?

1. Probably Starbucks. Jesse is very happy to hit it up every morning on their way into the arena.

2. Probably defense. Given that Jesse is the goalie, I think they would better take to defending the goal than trying to score.

3. The Bestest GM Ever in the History of the Whole of the World and the VHL.

4. Spaghetti with meat sauce. I mean, who isn't happy when twirling some pasta?

5. I'd like Jesse to get 40 wins and 7 shutouts. Would break a lot of personal records if they could pull that off.

6. Hide tiny little ducks all over for the team to try and find. There are 200 of them. Good luck!

1. Kawasaki, for their Ninja H2R motorcycle. Just because Ivan loves speed and now the Dil isn't the GM of London anymore he can get a motorcycle now.

2. Probably RW, he's had a lot of success as a RW both in the JST back in S82 and in the VHLM in S82.

3. Jacob "Crazy Person who devotes an insane amount of time to this league and somehow has 2000 tpe" Carson

4. Mac and Cheese, just because it's good, and one of the greatest things ever created.

5. I want Ivan to have 24 goals and at least 57 points, since that would boost him up over both 200 goals and 500 points in his career.

6. Give people stuff to talk about by making our team in NHL 22 and seeing how they do and how good they are. (also constantly try to figure out what exactly Deron Nesbitt is, no human can have 48 minutes of ice time in a game and be fine)

1) Jeckler would obviously be endorsed by Sherwood. Jack is bringing wooden sticks back!
2) Goalie. Jeckler's big body and defensive mindset would work well in net. At least that's what he thinks.
3) I would call him "the Glue" and I think everyone in our locker room understands why. Well done, @JCarson.
4) I would prepare surf and turf, honey glazed salmon and New York strip steaks. Sides would be an assortment of steamed vegetables and seasoned rice.
5) My expectations are modest. I would like to break my previous records of 7 Goals and 12 Assists. I'll say 9 Goals and 14 Assists.
6) I really enjoy talking with players in the locker room. We have a good group and seem to share similar interests.

For this weeks press conference I am going to give you a person and you have to write a one sentence compliment regarding that individual:

So here are your list of people you need to say something nice about

1) Somebody currently on the London United

2) Somebody from your draft year

3) An Active Commissioner of one of the leagues

4) A past GM you had

5) The person who drafted you to the VHL for your current player (can't be the same person as #4)

6) Our current Simmer

Good luck and have fun

1. Ivans NHL sims are awesome I love seeing how our team performs against NHL teams

2. Justin Lion is insane, won handful of cups in the E and also one in the M with us as well where he was the play-off MVP

3. Spartan is very helpful, not a fan of his abrupt rule changes though ;(

4. Jacob is one of the greatest teachers I had the only reason I'm still in the league!

5. I honestly never spoke to the Malmo GM but he's put together a fantastic team and looks like they're going to have a good season

6. I don't know Josh all to well but happy with the consistency of the sims wish they were a bit earlier though

1) Leonard Triller has been a teammate at every stage of Jeckler's career. I've always enjoyed his locker room presence and killer graphics.
2) We're technically one season apart but I've been in a couple of locker rooms with Sjin as well. Always active and always a pleasure to be around.
3) I think all of the commissioners are great. That's not a cop out. I understand how much time and effort you all put into this great league. Thank you very much!
4) Spartan has always been very helpful and informative. Without his help and encouragement I might not be around anymore. Thanks, man.
5) It was Rockstar that first drafted me to LA. He runs a very solid locker room. Thanks for seeing my potential, Rockstar.
6) I'm going to be honest. I don't even know who our current simmer is. Despite that I am grateful for everything that they do. We love games!

So this is for the week of Nov 19

1) Rank your player against your own expectations on the season?

2) Rank your TPE earning against your expectations for yourself?

3) Rank how London is doing against your expectations?

4) STHS has produced some odd situations this season, tell us one things that has happened that has made you say SIMON WTF?

5) As Simon is now prone to producing the improbable, what one thing would you like to see in a future Sim, that would be improbable but not impossible.

6) There is a statistical term called reversion to the mean, do you expect that Simon will correct some of this unlikely events by season end, which oddity do you expect to correct first and why?

Hey crashing your PC!

1. I think Ninefingers is doing way better than I had hoped.  However, team success is down so hoping it evens out and the Reapers can string some wins.

2. I am on point TPE wise right now and #2 in draft class with total TPE.  Hoping to keep maxing every week

3. London is where I thought they would be. Y'all are killing it, especially defensively only allowing 56 goals (the least in the league).

4. Hmmmmm....cant remember all the details but losing a game where we outshot a team like 60 shots to 15 when I was with Warsaw last player.

5. Well....more fights in a game from players with higher grit. Seems that doesn't seem to factor in to fighting at all

6.  No clue.   Seems as of now Chicago will be favored in the NA which I did not see coming

Have a great week London and best of luck!

1. Better than I expected. With Jesse's drop in performance last season I'm surprised to see them still sitting at the number 1 position for goalies.

2. Lower than expected. But I feel like I should have expected this with my wedding coming up. I've definitely dropped from being a max earner and I didn't participate in VHFL or Super Coach this season. But hopefully next month after things calm down again I'll be able to go back to my old self on here.

3. Better than expected. Again after last season I thought we were going to struggle with a long re-build phase but Jacob really did a great job pulling this team together.

4. I think we can all agree with Chicago being a super power but I'm also surprised to see Moscow at the bottom.

5. A more well-rounded win/loss ratio all around. I know that IRL hockey can have a big difference between top and bottom but when we're such a small league, I feel like the gaps shouldn't be that big.

6. Maybe? I mean it's possible that Chicago for unknown reasons continues to dominate just based on the numbers Simon is being fed.

1.  I am feeling good about where my player is at!  Finally being the playmaker I wanted them to be and getting the puck to my lovely scorers in Molly and Kerr!  10/10 so far!

2.  Same earning as always, MAX!  I am struggling to find ideas though for graphics.

3.  Dead on with what I expected!  We are awesome defensively and Teno is as good as ever.  We've never been big scorers but we are shut down right now and it feels like what we were working towards from last season.

4.  Our backup goalie being terrible!  I'm not expecting a winning record from them but my god, win us a couple against the worst teams!

5.  An own goal hat trick, from the other team of course!

6.  I think offense will start to pick up finally. We have the players for production but I feel like Simon is just letting us have our defensive game without the whole package.  More goals are coming if the oddity is to be corrected.

There has been a number of conversations about recruitment this week so I am going to ask a few questions about your experience joining the league.

1) How were you introduced to the VHL?

2) What has made you stay in the VHL?

3) Have you ever introduced the VHL to anyone else, why, why not?

4) Have you ever thought about leaving the VHL, why, why not?

5) Once your player retires will you recreate, why, why not?

6) Do you know anyone who you think would enjoy the VHL, would you invite them, why , why not?

1. Through a post on the Pittsburgh Penguins subreddit. I actually read it over, decided it wasn't for me, and then a week or so later I went back to find it because I actually was interested.

2. I've stayed for the creative outlet and for the people I've met. But what initially made me stay was Shindigs.

3. Yes. @RElblein is in a tax pros discord that I made and he was interested. I've tried others but no other bites.

4. Not really. I've thought about going clicker for a bit when things get rough in life but not fully walk away.

5. For sure. I've already got my next player named. Just can't decide if I want to go goalie again or try defense.

6. Yea but I haven't really had the chance to tell them about it. I doubt they would do it but just seems like it could be their thing.

1.  An autoplay YouTube ad!  There was an update to my browser that turned autoplay back on for YouTube and after my video ended, I came back from the bathroom to see a guy talking about the VHL.  I browsed the forums for awhile to see what was up then after not coming across too much nonsense I joined.

2.  Seeing what others create on the forums and a few of my member interactions that have stuck plus my teammates.  I couldn't abandon them!  It is also a great way to practice my artistic skills as well.

3.  I introduced my wife and she is a max earner!  She took to the community quite quickly and though she isn't a big hockey fan, she enjoys it.

4.  I actually haven't yet lol Thought about what not max earning would be like simply to spend the time I want on larger VHL projects.  Trying to raise the quality bar is hard in a week.

5.  I likely will but it will be after a break.  If after the break I feel ready to earn again I will.  Probably stay the AGM in Helsinki as Sam dictates when I leave.

6.  If I knew anyone who would, I would invite them.  My friends are on either side of the spectrum.  Either like sports but aren't this kind of nerdy about it or like things like this but don't care about sports at all.  I've always bridged that gap.  Most of them wouldn't care to deal with most of the community at large lol

So another week as past and we have another press conference.  This weeks Press Conference will focus on other teams

1) Which team (Not London) will make the biggest improvement over the rest of the season, why do you think this?

2) Which player not on London do you expect to have the most point by season end, why?

3) Outside of Teno, which non-backup goalie was a major contributor to their team, why?

4) Which teams first line (not London) was the most impressive, why?

5) Which team was the most disappointing this season, why?

6) Which GM (not London) made the largest impact on their team, why?

Hey London!

1. I think Helsinki will be tough down the stretch.  They have a good team but are stuff in a very tough division.

2. Sunglasses Joyo seems to be running away with it.

3. Have to go with Ryan Artyomov from Chicago.  23-12 with a team I didn't have doing nearly as well as they are.  Despite the low TPE he is killing it.

4. Have to go with LA's Napoleon Dyno, Todd Cooke, and Sunglasses Joyo.  with Abass Jr somewhere in there.  Tough line to defend and all very high TPE

5. Prague for sure.  The defending champs have a much better club than what there showing.

6.  I would have to say Helsinki's GM.  Pretty stacked team with some good off-season moves.  They are just in such a tough division it's a bit overshadowed.

Best of luck

1) Which team (Not London) will make the biggest improvement over the rest of the season, why do you think this?

Calgary, Idk I just think they've been underperforming a lot they're a decent side on paper.

2) Which player not on London do you expect to have the most point by season end, why?

Leandro Goncavles one of the best players in the league and is showing it right now I think he'll lead the league in points.

3) Outside of Teno, which non-backup goalie was a major contributor to their team, why?

Has to be Joel Castle, his performance this season has made Toronto one of the best teams in the league.

4) Which teams first line (not London) was the most impressive, why?

Chicago Phoenix, I mean the TPE totals are pretty low comparative to the rest of the league but they're killing it despite that!

5) Which team was the most disappointing this season, why?

Calgary, I honestly expected them to be a top team and it doesn't feel like it's been the case.

6) Which GM (not London) made the largest impact on their team, why?

I've got to go with Spartan, the team is in rebuild mode right now but everything they have in the system looks fantastic and I expect the team to be extremely competitive if things continue as planned.

1. I think Calgary should improve a bit towards the end of the season, but knowing Simon, it's kind of a shot in the dark no matter what.

2. I'm thinking Leandro Goncalves, he's always been pretty consistent and is having an amazing season this time around.

3. Joel Castle, he's 2nd in all stats among starting goalies besides wins and losses, definitely been one of the best goalies this season.

4. I don't actually know the first lines of any team besides London, so I actually have no idea how strong the top lines of other teams have been this season.

5. LA probably, considering they're in the worse division, yet still have only managed 5th in the league thus far.

6. I also happen to have no clue about GMs, of any of the leagues besides Vasteras in the E since I'm the AGM there. I really can't say anything about how they're doing.

1) Moscow will make the biggest improvements over the rest of the season. Spartan knows what he's doing.
2) Leandro Goncavles will have the most points because he's already having such an excellent season.
3) Joel Castle has certainly done his part for Toronto this season and that earns him my vote.
4) Seattle seems to give us trouble every time we play. I don't like it.
5) Seattle for the same exact reasons I've listed above.
6) I've already said that Spartan knows his shit. I think Moscow will be strong coming out of their rebuild.

As we quickly approach the end of the regular season we are going to do an evaluation Press conference

1) Did the GM live up to expectations for this season? Why?

2) Did your player live up to your expectations this season? Why?

3) Who on the team had the most significant impact on our results? Why?

4) Are you wanting to be traded, signed elsewhere, in the offseason? Why?

5) What area do we need to improve for next season? Why?

6) Who provided the most impact in the Locker Room this season, Why?

@JCarson

just a heads up (unless I missed something myself) - you don't need to create a new topic for every new press conference.

Just keep replying to the same topic as what most other teams do.

cheers

1) Did the GM live up to expectations for this season? Why?

Team is doing great, can't complain with where were at right now.

2) Did your player live up to your expectations this season? Why?

I am a bit disappointed with my production this season but considering all the players ahead on me in the depth chart I'm not surprised.

3) Who on the team had the most significant impact on our results? Why?

Has to be Jesse Teno absolutely killing it between the pipes.

4) Are you wanting to be traded, signed elsewhere, in the offseason? Why?

I've not had a new contract yet so it's hard to say what will happen next season, as a UK player London is the logical place for me to be playing.

5) What area do we need to improve for next season? Why?

I think my player is quite balanced, I'll probably be working on FO next season so I can move into that role and play in my true position instead of being on the wing.

6) Who provided the most impact in the Locker Room this season, Why?

Ivan Retoslav I loved those NHL simulations he did they were pretty awesome to hear about.
