Greg_Di 1,028
The Season 85 1st overall pick, Henry Eagles, has signed a five-year extension (Monetary terms not disclosed) with the Vancouver Wolves. This deal will see Eagles spend most of his career in Vancouver. Eagles officially signed the deal last week but the announcement came today. This contract will see the star locked up until Season 91. “I love being a Wolf and am very excited to follow in my grandfathers (Greg Eagles) footsteps and playing my career here in Vancouver,” Eagles said in a statement. “It was a tremendous moment winning the cup and I can’t wait to continue our journey to bring another continental cup back to Vancouver not just this season but for the full time I am here" “I want to thank the management for believing in me and extending me long term, I know at times I haven’t performed my best but they can see what I am capable of” Eagles continues “The Wolves have already accomplished amazing things since they drafted me and there is a lot more work to be done. The fans deserve more cups and its our goal to bring that to them” Eagles was a big part of last seasons continental cup win, posting up 12 goals, 12 assists for 24 points in 22 games played in the playoff run. He has steadily been improving season to season and many are expecting a huge breakout for Henry this season. “Henry is the one guy we wanted in the S85 draft and a player we wanted to build around,” Wolves GM said. “His talent is amazing and we are very happy to have him locked up for the next 5 years. We have many big things planned and Henry is one part of that puzzle. We can’t wait to see what Henry will bring the Wolves in the future” Fans and media were also happy with the signing as they always want to see their up and coming stars stay with the team for long term. The hope now is that Henry can turn into a 90-100 point player in the upcoming season. While this is a big task, he has been improving each of the seasons he has played and heading into this new season looks to be even better “Last seasons goal was to hit 60 points and I fell 2 points short, this has really motivated me to get better and I think it showed in the playoff run “ Henry continued during the signing press conference “ For this season I will be setting a very ambitious goal and we will see if it works out. My goal for this upcoming season will be 100 points. This is almost double my production of last season but it’s a goal I think I can reach” While an ambitious goal, with more ice-time both fans and management think this is a very achievable goal. Henry has slowly been breaking out as star in the VHL and with the current team-mates he has in Vancouver, there is no doubt in our mind that this goal will be reached.
