Well what can be said about Henry Eagles upbringing? He was born into a hockey family and has lived and breathed hockey since his first breath into this world.

He was born in Wroclaw, Poland into the Eagles Dynasty. His father, Tom Eagles, was a star defenseman in the VHL who played most his career in Calgary. His Grandfather was Greg Eagles who was an all-star goaltender who played a majority of his career in Vancouver where Henry currently plays. If any player can be given a head-start into the world of hockey then Henry is that guy.

Henry had hockey blood running through his veins and to no surprise at all to anyone, the word "hockey" was his first word. He also received some of the best training you could get growing up and it will be no surprise to anyone when he becomes a VHL superstar. Here is a little biography about his upbringing and how Henry got to where he is today.

From the moment he could first walk he was put on skates and given a stick to hold in order to help him be the best that he can be in hockey and to give him the best shot to make it big into the VHL. There was always lots of hype around Henry and he has been able to handle the pressure of that hype. Growing up first in Poland and then in Calgary, he was always selected to play on all the top tier junior teams. Below we will look at some of the teams he played for.

While Henry didnt play long in Poland due to his father being selected by Calgary, he did play for the top under 10 team in his hometown of Wroclaw. He was the captain of his team and led his team to a European tournament championship. He did this while media and scouts were already following and travelling to watch his games which would be stressful for any young kid.

" It doesn't bother me, I just see them as fans at a game. My main goal is to help my team win and not focus on whats happening outside of the rink" a young Henry once said to a reporter.

After his move to Calgary, he would go on to play for his high school as well as as the CJHL which was the Calgary junior hockey league. Trained by his grandfather (as his father was playing with Calgary), Henry became one of the most fearsome snipers in the CJHL. Every night he played the opposing teams would have trouble shutting him down no matter who they put on him. It felt like he was a 25 year old all-star playing against junior players even though he was one of the youngest players in the league. Eventually due to his skill and some help from the other two famous Eagles, Henry joined the Calgary Hitman in the CHL.

This was an interesting time for Henry as he was the youngest player ever to suit up in the CHL but he quickly become one of the best players. By playing in Calgary, Henry was also able to attend many of his fathers game as well as practice with the Wranglers which really gave him a development boost. Most young players do not get to practice with a pro team and especially a team that was as good as the Wranglers.

"Looking back at that time now, I can see how at such a young age I was able to develop so quickly" Henry says " I was training with some of the best players in the world and learning everything I could from them. My father was such an instrumental help in getting me exposure to this and it really went a long way to developing into who I am today"

There was lots of interest from many leagues around the world to acquire Henry from the NHL to the KHL and all the leagues in between but Henry was not interested. He only had one league in his head and that was the VHL.

"All the Eagles have played in the VHL and I was not about to break that tradition. While the NHL was very appealing to me I just believe the talent is better in the VHL and I wanted to play against the best. The VHL has become one of the greatest leagues in the world and I am happy to be able to play here"

On draft night there was another surprise for Henry as he was the first Eagles to be drafted first overall and would also be playing for the exact same team his grandfather was drafted into. Only the future tell if he will be able to win as many awards as his grandfather and become the greatest Eagles to play in the VHL
