ryf87 28
Being born into a poorer family in Trinidad and Tobago, BigMac didn’t have it easy growing up. His family consisted of four people. These people are his mom, dad, brother, and BigMac. His father who worked in the tech industry was not home often so this led to BigMac having to provide for his family and be the man of his household, teaching him how to be responsible early on. Since his family was not very wealthy BigMac often found himself working several different jobs and chores to help support his family's needs like food and clothing. While BigMac was mowing a neighbor's lawn for money he saw two boys in the street playing street hockey. BigMac was instantly interested in the sport. BigMac’s mom, knowing that he had been interested in hockey, took him to a local hockey game in Trinidad. BigMac instantly fell in love with the game and begged his mom to let him play for a year straight. Even though his family couldn’t afford much, they sacrificed a lot to let BigMac pursue his dreams of playing hockey. His parents signed him up for a local 10u recreation team who happened to have free gear for all their players where BigMac began to play hockey as a forward. Although BigMac still wasn’t very good at hockey, the recreation team gave him lots of opportunities through games and practices. BigMac continued to progress as he learned how to shoot the puck, skate, pass, and stick handle. In BigMac’s first ever game with the team he got an assist on a game that they lost 3-5. As the season went on the team had their first tournament. BigMac would put up 6 points in 4 games in this tournament. This tournament helped spread BigMac’s name. In his first season BigMac put up 10 goals and 20 assists, totalling 30 points in 30 games. Now with BigMac being a completely different player than he was at the start of the last season, BigMac tried out for a travel team in Trinidad and Tobago. BigMac made the team and all looked good. With this team BigMac was excited because it meant he could finally travel to different countries as there was not much hockey in Trinidad and Tobago. For BigMac’s first tournament with the team they traveled to Orlando, Florida. The team faced many tough opponents in this tournament to reach the championship game. In the championship game BigMac played phenomenal notching 3 goals and an assist but sadly they fell in overtime. This loss hurt BigMac, he was motivated to become the best player he could be. BigMac was ready for the next season like never before. In the summer BigMac’s dad got a job offer in Clearwater, Florida, a city near Tampa. BigMac and his family were very excited to move to America because they would finally be free from financial issues as his dad would be making six figures. BigMac’s family also saw this move as a fresh start away from all the issues they had left behind in Trinidad. BigMac, now being in America, fell in love with the country. While BigMac searched for a new place to play hockey, he was recognized by one of the organizations that he played against in Orlando. BigMac made the AA team and from there continued to do amazing things as he notched 44 goals and 36 assists in the 40 game season. BigMac was now on the radar of many scouts around the nation as he moved up to play 14u AAA in Tampa. BigMac being the speedy sniper he is led his team to many championships along the years he played 14u. Most notably in his second year of 14u when BigMac led his team to the state playoffs beating the opposing team 4-0. BigMac led the team this game with two goals and an assist to make it to the nationals where they would fall 3-2 in a heartbreaking overtime loss. Although BigMac may have lost the game it motivated him even further for the start of the next season. Now playing in his 15u year BigMac was ready for revenge. During the regular season BigMac broke records putting up 67 goals and 43 assists in 50 games. Once again leading his team to the Nationals where they were the underdogs. BigMac’s team was expected to lose heavily but BigMac took his emotions from the end of last season and scored four goals in a 5-2 win. BigMac was relieved as he felt he finally achieved what he had been hoping for his whole life, to make his family proud. As BigMac is driven to increase his skills he has declared for the Season 88 VHLM draft where he hopes to be drafted top 5. As of recently he has signed in the VHML with the Miami Marauders on a $1.5 million contract for one year where he plans to keep developing going into his draft year.
