Game Discussion

VHL teams are beginning to build their identities and it is becoming increasingly clear who is a contender and who just is not ready to compete for the cup yet.  Here's a look at some of the biggest games of the past week.

In a battle between the two conference leaders who happen to own the top two records in the league, the Titans were able to come out on top in this battle with the Americans by a score of 3-0.  Jackson Miller scored all three goals in this one has his hat trick led the Titans to victory while Kimmo Salo not only pitched a 22 save shutout in net but added an assist on Miller's first goal.  The Americans still have the slightly better record but Helsinki is on their tails.

The Wranglers and Express, despite their mediocrity to this point in the season, put on a show for the rest of the league this week.  After some back and forth scoring, the two teams found themselves tied 3-3 after regulation.  After overtime and a long shootout, the Wranglers managed to secure the two points as the Express went home disappointed despite a great effort in a 4-3 loss.  Wesley Kellinger scored a goal and two assists for the Express while rookie teammate Mason Richardson added both a goal and an assist in regulation.  But it was not enough to overcome the Wranglers, who pulled off a shootout win after eight rounds.

Finally, we have this surprise handling of the Meute by the Iron Eagles.  Despite being out-shot, Vasteras held on to their early lead to emerge victorious by a score of 3-1.  Leading the way for the Iron Eagles was none other than Niklas Lindberg, whose two goals increased his league-leading total to 26.

TPE Earning

Media & Graphics

Victor's 33rd edition of 40 in 40 highlights new players and the longevity of the VHL.  It's an excellent, well-written, and informative article that everyone should take a look at.

Next we have travehave's article, entitled Wranglers Hitting Stride.  It's an interesting overview of the Wranglers' season to this point, which sees them sitting comfortable in playoff position.

Finally, make sure to take a look at Caillean22's graphic of Jamie Hill.  It's extremely smooth and helps to preserve Hill's femininity although it will be interesting to see if she can ever make the jump to the VHL!
