A modest crowd turned up at Ekaterinburg’s Koltsevo airport to welcome back Yaroslav Bogatyrev, one of the Urals proudest sons, to his homeland after the Seattle Bears exist at the Conference Final stage against the Calgary Wranglers.

Bogatyrev typically spends his offseason in the Urals under the tutelage of his father and famed hockey coach, Yurii Bogatyrev. After a few days off, Yaroslav is expected to begin a fierce training program consisting of both on-ice and dryland drills. Yurii Bogatyrev is known to be fond of taking his charges outdoors and conducting as much training as possible in the region’s forest and lakelands.

“I’m thankful for everyone who came to the airport to welcome me back to Russia. It’s tough being away from home for so long, but it’s always good to come back and see friends and family. I always value my father’s training. It’s better than anything else in the world. No-one understands me better, no-one understands how to motivate me better. It’s a shame that for visa purposes he can’t come over to the United States more, but that’s the reality we live in. We adapt, we cope, and we make do,” Yaroslav Bogatyrev told reporters.
