Retro Cats

Anyone who is even remotely cool in the VHL knows that Molly the Cat is the coolest cat hanging in the VHL these days. Which of course makes Molly the Cat the coolest Cat on any form of media these days but that was not always the case. This article is going to go back into the archives of media and discuss some of the cool cats that have graced media.

If we are going to discuss Cool Cats, we should start with Cool Cat himself. We can thank Warner Brothers for this entry. Cool Cat was first produced in 1967. Cool Cat was voiced by Larry Storch.

Next totally radical Cat we are going to review is none other than the lasagna eating, Monday hating protagonist of Jon, you got it, that would be Garfield. Now that is a Cat who has some staying power, he has graced us with his presence since 1978 when cartoonist Jim Davis presented him to the world. Garfield has had TV shows, a syndicated newspaper cartoon and recently several feature films. Garfield is one cool cat

Any article about the coolest of retro cat fame would be amiss if it did not touch on this next entry. Obviously, we can only be talking about the one, the only Tom. Tom is one of the title characters in the Tom and Jerry show. Originally Tom and Jerry were owned by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as far back as 1940 (now that is Retro) but currently are the property of Warner Brothers.

Now that we have touched on some of the older Retro cool cats let us look at a few newer entries. Gracing the likes of social media and soon becoming a meme legend Grumpy Cat became the face of Cat’s everywhere. Grumpy Cat unfortunately left us on May 14, 2019, but will always be remembered as one of the Cool Cats who made meme’s what they are today. We send a shout out to the OG meme lord herself.

Now honestly, we all know this article could go on forever, as it is a well-known fat that Cats rule the animal kingdom so obvioulsy there are going to be several retro cool cats. In order to keep this article to the point and not 15000 words and pictures long we are going to do a montage to the best of the rest when it comes to Cool Cats.

Now we would be remiss if we did not give Disney its’ own cat section within this article. Disney would not be Disney without its’ legion of Cats, which is strange to say for a company built on the back of a mouse. We all know the newer cats like Simba, Nala and Scar from the Lion King but it is the Retro Cats that we plan to focus on. In that fame we have entries like the Aristocats,

Cheshire Cat, from Lady and the Tramp, the Siamese Cats (you are now singing the song)  And lastly, we do not want to forget, from the jungle book Begheera.

As I said, Molly the Cat may be the Coolest cat of present-day fame, but Cat’s have ruled the media for some time. Thanks for following my retro review of the coolest cats.
