Given the number of needs the Vasteras Iron Eagles had going into S89, it was projected that the Swedish team would struggle in the new season. However things have gotten to a painful low with the most recent games being most embarrassing. Lets find out exactly how bad it is for the Iron Eagles, who have been the great or not, and what can be done to fix the team both in the shortand long term.

Currently, the Vasteras Iron Eagles have a record of 2-17-1. This is only second worst in the VHLE with Eagles's rival, the Stockholm Vikings, only having one win. That is the only positive thing for the Iron  Eagles currently. The Iron Eagles are crashing to an eleven game loosing streak. Many of these losses have been embarrassing which includes three shutouts, one of which was a particularly bad 6-0 beatdown by the Geneva Rush. Their last victory was Game 29, A 4-7 win against the previously mentioned Vikings. Of the next eleven games, five were decided by a  only lone goal. Overall there is little fun and much embarrassment and pain in Vasteras.

With a understanding of what is happening, lets look at the roster to see who are the people dealing with this miserable performance. With only three players above 300 TPE this team seems stuck in a hard rebuild. 1st overall pick Montgomery Burns has been near a point per game, but it has been a struggle for everyone else. Defense has been just decent but the worst part has be the goaltenders. Both of the Iron Eagles's have just over 200 TPE and have proven that they are not VHLE caliber players. The 3.38 GAA is too much for this core to recover from. Trading away a recent draftee and rising star Fradin McGryer two game into the season hasn't helped the moralof the team.

With everything set up we can now ask how do the Iron Eagles turn things around. First thing that must be done is to aquire to VHLE caliber goaltender. This should be top priority. The goaltender tandem that the team currently has is a failure. An improvement must be found. The second thing to change is for more experimentation with the roster. Some more changes to the lineup or even swapping players around might be good for finding something that works. The last thing is to let the rest of the S89 prospects develop into the star that they were ment to be. Those things should help turn things around for the Iron Eagles both today and in the future.

The Vasteras Iron Eagles are mess. Their team is painful to play for and painful to watch. Their roster is weak with significant holes to fill. But all it not lost. The season is still young with plenty of to fix some of issues and for players to grow. While the Vasteras Iron Eagles might have to play the long game and think about more than S89, it will be enough if they can out preform the Stockholm Vikings.
