Junior Showcase Tournament Select Power Rankings!

Conference 1:

1. The Brigade

Current Power Ranking: 3

Season 88 Junior Showcase Tournament Results: JST Champions

The Brigade is off to a rough start in the S89 Junior Showcase Tournament. They are coming off of a S88 championship, and are fighting to take another championship. The Brigade's Goalie Andrew Cobberson has been awesome in the net with a save percentage of 0.902% and a Goals Against Average (GAA) of 2.27. Cobberson played 17 games in the VHLM this season, 2 for Miami & 15 for Ottawa. Cobberson finished with a save percentage of 0.885% this season and a Goals Against Average (GAA) of 3.45. Cobberson is clearly performing better in the JST. The Brigade is balanced between Defense & Offense as they are sitting at a Goals for of 16, and a Goals Against of 15. If the Brigade wants to get ranked higher, they need to work on scoring more goals while also maintaining their good level of defence. A better GAA would hopefully improve their winning percentage.

2. The Royals

Current Power Ranking: 4

Season 88 Junior Showcase Tournament Results: First-Round Knockout

The Royals are off to a horrible start in the S89 Junior Showcase Tournament. They are coming off of a rough First Round knockout in the S88 tournament, and are still showing signs of poor performance. The Royals Left Wing Alexandre Crosby is leading the team in offense. He is currently leading the team both in goals and overall points. Crosby has scored 4 goals out of his 16 shots, with a shooting percentage of 25%. Crosby played 38 games in the VHLM this season, all being with Miami. Crosby finished with a good 41 points. 20 goals & 21 assists. Crosby is performing very well in the JST as well, and I expect him to maintain the point lead in the Royals. The spotted weakness in the Royals is the Defense. The Royals need to work on improving their defence as they are sitting at a Goals for of 16 and a Goals Against an average of 21.  If the Royals can improve their defence, their PR may be re-decided for a better PR.

Conference 2:

1. Yukon Rush

Current Power Ranking: 1

Season 88 Junior Showcase Tournament Results: N/A

The Yukon Rush are doing amazing in their inaugural Junior Showcase Tournament season! They are a new team and did not participate in any previous seasons of the Junior Showcase Tournament, and are proving to everyone that they can come in and win the championship out of nowhere. The Yukon Rush Defensemen Lionel Collberg is a defensive leader for his team. He is currently leading the Yukon Rush in Assists and 2 points away from leading in overall points. Collberg is additionally leading his team with a +/- of 9. Whenever Collberg is on the ice, he sets an example for his team & other defensemen to follow. Collberg played 24 games in the S89 VHLM Regular Season with Philadelphia. He finished with 16 points and a +/- of 6. Collberg is proving to be an amazing asset for every team he is a part of. The Rush are doing awesome maintaining first place overall, with Goals for of 20 and a Goals Against of 13. They have an amazing defence lineup led by Collberg while still going crazy with the number of goals they score. I doubt the Rush will lose their current spot in the power Ranking.

The Steel has been assigned a power ranking of 2.

Hmm. I didn't see the name when I was writing the article. I'll have to check later when I write power rankings again next Monday.
