It is hard to believe Ronan Lavelle is entering his final season. It seems like just yesterday Lavelle was an S82 prospect awaiting his draft year. Lavelle’s career has been a very fun ride. From “Lavelle sim” after a rocky rookie season, to a Continental Cup, then on to become the scoring leader in the ole whole VHL.

The Beginning:

Ronan Lavelle entered S83 as a rookie as a member of the DC Dragons. Lavelle was selected 7th overall by DC, and had just won the scoring title for the Geneva Rush of the VHLE. The MVP Trophy then was renamed the Ronan Lavelle Trophy. The expectations were high for the young Dragon. Lavelle started off his career with fire out of the gate. Lavelle would record 2 goals in his first career game. This amazing start would not last however as Lavelle would only find the back of the net 11 more times over the next 71 games and scored 40 total points. Expected for a rookie campaign? Sure. Disappointing to him? Absolutely. To make matters worse, DC got swept 3-0 by their rival Chicago Phoenix. The silver lining is Lavelle scored twice in the series and was a point per game player.

The S85 Cup:

The S85 season would be a special one for Ronan Lavelle and the DC Dragons. The Dragons themselves weren’t by any means an elite tier team record wise during the regular season. They finished third in the North American Conference with 84 points. Ronan Lavelle had his best season to date with 98 points including 46 goals which led the Dragons in points. Lavelle led everyone in the playoffs with 26 points which won him the playoff MVP honors. This would be Lavelle’s second trophy of an impressive collection as he hoisted the Continental Cup up after sealing the deal against the Moscow Menace in 5 games. Lavelle was thriving in individual hardware as well as the one that means the most. The Dragons were champions, Ronan Lavelle was a champion.

Back to Back Scoring Titles:

Ronan Lavelle was chasing the high of another Continental Cup. With DC entering the end of its current competitive cycle, Lavelle had a new home in Moscow. Forward to the S88 season, Lavelle has hit another career milestone. Win a scoring title! Lavelle would go on to lead the league in points with 109. Lavelle and linemate Tomas Sogaard who won the goal title took the league by storm. The crazy part? Lavelle would somehow one up himself again in S89. Lavelle won the scoring title by 1 point, finishing with 115 points. This time, Lavelle was the goal scorer. He went on to lead the league in goals with 56. At this point in Lavelle’s career, he has one season left to try to get himself into any kind of Hall of Fame discussions. How will he fair?

Good luck in Toronto!! 56 points until 700 career points is so doable for Ronan this season and according to victor’s spreadsheet top 100 retired players is 671 points 🔥 Hoping Lavelle can tear it up one more time!

Such a decorated career thus far, only fitting he goes into the HoF after multiple dominant seasons. It's been pretty special to have been along for the ride the last few seasons as Lavelle tears it up. This last one will be bittersweet, but it's pretty fitting Lavelle + Sogaard traversed it together. I'm excited for it, big things are coming your way! 💣
