Bratislava Rights the Ship After Rough First Sim

With the excitement and anticipation coming into the season for the Bratislava Watchmen as high as it has been in a while, it was imperative that the Brats got off to a good start to the season.

A season opening 0-4 sim, being outscored 13-6 was not the start that anybody was looking for. Around the locker room, the Watchers remained calm, with multiple players stressing the need to keep perspective as to just how early in the season that it was. Players remained focused on continuing to practice hard, and work on developing their skills.

That patience paid off in the form of a bounceback 2-0 sim, beating Stockholm and Vasteras by a combined score of 5-2. Standout performances in net by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWWWWWWWWWWW (2-2, .948 sv%) helped right the ship, while the teams' balanced scoring ways continued. 10 of the 13 skaters for Bratislava have recorded multiple points on the season in the early going as the Watchmen look to get contributions from all over. Harry Callahan, Nagy AL, Otis Boudreaux Jr., and Sunset Moth have all scored twice in the first six games, while Callahan and Jebediah Big Ol Doinks in Amish both have three assists to lead the way.

Up next for the Watchmen is a stretch of 8 of 12 games on home ice, a chance for them to get comfortable in their home building over the first quarter of the season. 4 of those 12 games upcoming are against the Cologne Express, a team that many view as a top 2 team in the VHLE this season. For Bratislava, it is an opportunity to show that they belong in the conversation with the best of the E this season, and a few wins would go a long way to capitalizing on that opportunity.
