Boga Goes Streaking

I mean in terms of him being an incredibly streaky player. After scoring three goals in the first two games of the season, there were early whispers that Yaroslav Bogatyrev was going to be a challenger for the scoring title. Well, at least until Landon Wolanin banged in seven goals in the same time period.

Then followed a three-game point drought, in which Bogatyrev looked well off the pace. Since then, the Bears have gone on to win four games in a row, and Boga has added both goals and assists to his game.

Now seen to be in his prime, Bogatyrev currently sits with 9 points in 10 games, significantly below his point-per-game clip last season. The second overall pick was expected to be one of the league’s premier players this season, but it once again looks like the Russian forward is going to struggle to consistently put points on the board.

People close to Bogatyrev’s camp have said that the Russian forward has worked extremely hard over the offseason to ensure that he’s in prime physical and, crucially, mental shape for the coming season, but it looks once again that Big Boga will flatter to deceive.
